Yeah, "The Last of Us" sounds like a silly name for a game to me.
But I feel it would be a new IP by the way they are stirring up hype, otherwise they would be able to grab attention by noting it as part of an existing franchise. Also, I can't think of any established game universe that it would fit into as it stands now.
"nothing like the Unreal Engine"
It looks very similar infact. Also, the engine can be vastly adapted - most developers don't tweak it all that much though so a lot of Unreal Engine games look/feel very similar.
The Unreal Engine is fine, it's just that a lot of developers who use it only do so because they don't have the capabilities or requirements for an in-house engine and there are a lot of experienced Unreal Engine personnel kicking about.
So sometimes they don't properly tailor it enough or put enough effort into adapting the game fully for all platforms (they assume the engine will mean they don't have to so problems like bad mouse input or strange performance issues o...
How so?
The rendering in the screenshot (the one that's probably just the menu/intro screen ^_^) looks a bit like the Unreal Engine. Not that my obvservation could be anywhere near accurate but I could try to recreate the scene if they havn't made any fancy custom shaders or extensions (but if it's Epic, they will have).
I would agree that Epic is a bit unlikely, but theres no way you could know that there is no way they are behind it :P Unless yo...
"The elder scrolls series is buggy and glitchy because of the fact that the games are so huge and ambitious."
Errr... no. All the bugs are in isolated logic patterns.
Code isn't duplicated when a game is large...
Most of the bugs in Skyrim involve the AI (which breaks other things if it doesn't work - horrible programming practice that would get people fired in most studios) and untested scripts.
Skyrim isn&...
I honestly didn't like Portal 2 or Skyrim all that much either.
Portal 1 was groundbreaking when it came out and 2 just used comedy to mask how little of an improvement it actually made and pull in some big dollars.
Skyrim is very good overall, but it is too flawed and the guild quests are boring (did they playtest it AT ALL?). It could have been 10x the game it is but no doubt they knew it would sell like sweetrolls so didn't bother (shareholders need their dividends)...
Sucky list.
MW3 was good back in 2007.
Crysis 2 was horrible.
"Gears of War 3 is the prominent termination to one of the most unforgettable and famous sagas in gaming history."
Sorry, but NO. It may be a top game of 2011, but it can in no way be described as unforgettable or famous in gaming history... idiot author, bad site, cya bye.
Yep. Free but without intrusive adverts.
Probably why I will be ignoring M$'s console entries forever now because they trolled me so much this gen with updates that just added more space for adverts. Then they set the default blade to the new advert one and have new advert blades on both sides of it, and the menu lags like sh&t so you have to wait for it to keep up with your up/down button presses and stare at adverts longer.
That would be cool.
But it should be to PS3/PSP owners... or it would get trolled.
I like it.
Branding this gen was their worst job yet (too pretentious) so it's time for a change.
1 decent counter strike player will annihilate an army of controller users with a glock, if they all have AWPs.
CS is just.... not right for a controller.
It just wouldn't work unless they totally changed the game.
Either it'll suck on consoles or it'll suck on all platforms.
The gun control in CS:S and in CS is just too precise for an analogue stick or 30fps. I remember CS on Xbox and it was horrible.
If they change it to work on consoles then it will suck on PC.
They do have to scale them down.
Also, most PC devs like to develop on PC because it is an open platform where there is no big company to boss them around, it wouldn't be like that developing specifically for OnLive. Also OnLive has a tiny user-base compared to PC - it is only usable in a handful of countries.
Why is the UI 14.834 Trillion miles away from the edge of the screen?
Probably going to be crap or they'd be willing to show more.
"to be honest sometimes i feel mad buying them brand new"
Same, I buy very few games brand new these days.
I've only bought BF3 and TW2 brand new (preordered) in the past year and both of them had (BF3 still HAS) severe issues.
The PC version does have most of the bugs also seen on consoles: like AI getting stuck and quests becoming uncompletable.
It does seem to go a bit crazy with memory usage which crashes the game if you don't make it large memory address aware (or it did, have they patched that?).
"Now after you've worked that miracle, explain what is wrong with a business model that includes turning a profit."
+bubs :D
But I would agree that game retailers are very overpriced. £45 for PC BF3/Skyrim? No ty I'll go get them for £25 somewhere else.
But they HAVE to charge loads for the console titles because they make so little markup.
