The cell processor sucks for gaming
It's not an especially good general-purpose CPU. Effectively it's a single core (with SMT) in-order PPE CPU with a bunch of FP units hanging off the side. For single-precision FP apps, it's a monster; but general-purpose computing is integer-oriented and tends to be very branchy, which in-order designs suck at. So even though Linux has been ported to it, it's a lousy choice for a desktop processor. HPC applications are something else entirely, which ...
a game you've never seen? It's like Stevie Wonder getting excited looking at porn.
Bluray, HDDVD war going on and all the media exposure it is getting that Microsoft is trying to show that neither is really necessary. As long as you have a big enough HDD, download is the way to go. When it becomes more mainstream Im sure it will explode as there is very little cost to the movie studios involved also.
for Sonys first party titles. God of War, Gran Turismo, ICO, Shadow of the Colossus. But even I have to say I could care less about Littlesh@tplanet.
whoever decided to make shadowrun into a FPS isn't really trying to diversify the 360 lineup. This was one of my favorite Genesis RPGs back in the day, and is a pretty popular pen and paper RPG. Why would you take a a classic RPG and turn it into this. If they would have released an RPG sequal to the original Shadowrun it probably would have sold 2 mil easy.
the original XBOX upscaled a lot of games to 720p. A lot of HDTVs do upscaling as well. Its not some form of alien technology or something, and also is not exclusive to PS3. So there really is no reason to get mad just bc someone thinks it doesn't look that good.
some Valuum for you if the Mart upsets you that much. It is kinda funny though bc I checked out his profile and he has around thirty people either tracking hin or ignoring him. That has to be an N4G record. It is one thing to blindly hate but I feel a lot of his arguments(not all) are well thought out, and usually based on some kind of fact...
Microsoft doesn't just throw 50 million to both Square and Konami to get FF13 and Metal Gear exclusive......or even 100 million. It would have insured the XBOX success. With the initial losses in their game divisions being so high already, Im sure it wouldn't have made much of a difference and would have been easily recovered with sales of these titles. It isn't like they don't have the money. Personally I don't really care for these games but for the Japanese market it surely would have ...
Floxnard, are you really serious?
Blu-Ray isn't the first, all 8 media formats Sony has introduced in the last 15 years have failed to become used in the technology industry. All the others, from the Mini-Disk to the UMD, have not caught on, due to being proprietary and expensive. Sound familiar?
Mini-Disc (1991)--custom disc format, and used ATRAC audio compression, which is proprietary.
Sony Dynamic Digital Sound (1993)--a competitor to the Dolby Digital...
and on top of it are arrogant about it.
1)5 Million people would buy PS3s, even if it didn't have any games!

2) Nintendo copied off of us! We invented 3D!

3)The PS3 is a Computer
at all for Sony. Having that many used systems available only six months after launch. The purchaser was obviously that disappointed in the system that he wouldn't even give it a chance. I think this is all do to overhyping a product. I'm sure a lot of early adopters of PS3 were disappointed when they were promised the "true" next gen in graphics and gameplay, when what they really got was the same as 360. It should at least be comparable to Wii sales, you can't find a used Wii ...
rediculous. A game reviewer should be totally unbiased and able to give his opinion. I have to agree though, that to publicise this is even worse. And in regards to the quality of Midway games I feel they have declined. The main problem is that some 2d games don't translate well to 3D. I'm sure the hardcore fans of Mortal Kombat would agree that MK1, 2, and 3 were far superior to anything released after that.
Unfortunately the only companies that seem to remember that 2D fighters ...
by cheating the consumer out of $200 dollars they could have used to buy "games". Most people that will buy PS3s dont even know what Bluray is. Shouldn't it be their decision whether or not they want Bluray. The adoption rate of HDTVs is still not mass market, so most consumers can't even watch HD movies. You fanboys act like Bluray is a gift in the PS3. Its not, it's just a desperate attempt for Sony to win the format war. Isn't it funny how instead of releasing a game packed ...
when demand is low production is low. If Sony wouldn't have tried to force Bluray on the public, the PS3 would be selling like hotcakes, most likely at at a 3 or $400 dollar price point.
painfully obvious what the cell processor excels at.
1) server yes
2) folding proteins yes
3) playing HD movies yes
4) games....ask the developers(the ones who aren't biased)
Super Mario Galaxy to be PS3 exlusive. Miyamoto and top execs at Nintendo are disagreeing about downloadable content for Galaxy. Plumber jumps ship to Sony platform...Ken Kutaragi states " I have always felt Mario would be limited on Nintendos hardware.....I feel mario in 4D will be quite superior."

BlueBlad is right about the cell. You do realize the "almighty" cell processor is in a stand alone Bluray player as well and is not at all a gaming CPU. Actually if you would do your research you would know that when Sony started engineering the cell processor in a joint effort with IBM, they also started the R&D behind Bluray. This was about 4 yrs ago. The cell chip was designed as a number crunching photoimaging powerhouse specificly to play Bluray discs. The PS3 having Blura...
Sony probably will win because they are forcing people to buy Bluray in PS3. All the fanboys want to believe that Bluray is needed for games. No its not. (You do realize a 2x Bluray drive is not very fast, and increases load times for games.) 360 has been doing it for almost 2 years without Bluray. It is marketing propaganda and it makes Playstation fanboys eyes light up whenever the word Bluray even comes up, like a deer in the headlights bc there system has Bluray alien technology, and ...
