were the old Genesis vs Nes, and Snes....Who could forget the old commercial "Genesis does what Nintendon't", and their cheesy theme song. Blast processing for Genesis vs. Mode 7 for SNES. The NEO-GEO that cost $600, and had 125 MB carts that cost over $100. Those were the days when 2D was king and the arcades were booming with games like SF2, MK, and Killer Instict. It was also the age that brought all the staples for the games we play today.

Bluray is more important to Sony than the PS3. The adoption rate of HD content is only 2% when you compare it to regular DVD. The primary purpose of the PS3 is to introduce Bluray into the market. You have to lay your fanboyism aside for a second and look at the facts. Does the PS3 have many games?...I think software sales speak for themselves. What you do have is a spike in Blu ray movie sales though. Kudos to Sony bc it has worked. Sony has stated that they want Bluray to replace DVD...

made the right choice using DVD9. HD players only make up about 2% of the market. Not to mention with Microsoft it isn't a forced purchase and the consumer can decide on their own if they prefer HDDVD or Blu ray. Its really simple....

1)faster load times with DVD9
2)better price point($200 dollars less)
3}360 can upscale regular DVDs to higher resolutions.
4)compression

It's time for PS3 owners to check out the newest releases on Blu ray.

fact is companies will always want to go with the biggest install base. This used to be the PS2. With the next gen formats its not the same. Things are already a lot different with SquareEnix this time around

Last Remnant is going multiplatform and Dragonquest IX was justed anounced for the Nintendo DS. FF13 might still be exclusive to PS3, but as for Square titles after that nobody really knows.

..and by the way I didn't insult you in any way...
so let me get this straight.

1)Desperados qoute "last Remnant, a new IP, targeted at both Western and Eastern audiences."

Bloodmasks question...Isn't FF13 targeted at both Western and Eastern audiences?

2)Desperados qoute " FFXIII is NOTHING like it"

Bloodmasks question...Have you played either one?

.....here is your quote "Multiformat means they have to focus on different platforms to move forwards, that has no implications of multiplatform games, but rather exclusive games catering to each console's strengths."

If this is the basis of your argument how do you explain The Last Remnant being released on the 360 and the PS3 on the same day? Doesn't this pretty much invalidate the point you were trying to make?

that even Square realizes that multiplatform is the way to go for 3rd parties. With Last Remnant being multiplatform I guess I can see the direction that Square is heading. With the high production costs going into making a game such as Final Fantasy don't be suprised if you do see it on multiple platforms. Everything is about money after all in the industry.

to Microsoft for making a top notch racing sim. Quality games should sell well and not movie licensed dribble.

I figured if they were going to incorporate Chuch Norris into Halo, they could also include his Powerglide machine for the ultimate aerobic workout.

this was my favorite game on XBOX1. I highly recommend it to any PS3 owner who has never played the original. I can't wait for this and Ninja Gaiden 2.....Itigaki, and team Ninja make really high quality games.

This is probably the point in time where PCs really start to break away and make games that will always be scaled down ports to console.
To run a game like that would take an insane amount of video ram.

that the arguments for a format war even exists in a video game thread.
A videeo games console is no place for a format war to even take place. There are more new articles about Blu ray than there are about games lately when it comes to PS3...Oh well.

pointless to speculate right now. HDDVD and Bluray make up about 2% of the DVD market. DVD sells on an average of about 100,000 to one compared to any HD format....What you people have to realize is that the install base of the PS3 is about 3.3 million and is about 30 times the install base of HDDVD. Bluray movies are only outselling HDDVD on a ratio at the most 7 to 1......usually 3 or 2 to 1. This really isn't a good sign bc Bluray movies should be outselling HDDVD at least close to 30 t...

you are right the upscaler is hardware driven in the 360. There is an upscaling chip that is included in every console. The PS3 is completely software driven(through the firmware update) and is not nearly as effective...it causes a lot more stretching and more of a blurring effect.
