If you research the net you will find out that the cell(developed by Toshiba, Sony, and IBM), was engineered at the exact same time as Blu ray. That was really its primary purpose. To be a really good Bluray player. They couldn't get it to run games at all without a graphics card. The RSX was only finalized 6 months before the PS3 launched. That is why it is not that advanced. Sony also tried to market the cell to the PC gaming market, and it was rejected by every company. The cell processor ...

this game does look pretty interesting. This is basicly the 360s answer to Dragon Quest. I used to lean toward Japanenese style RPGs but after playing Bioware's RPGs on the first XBOX, I am looking foward to Mass Effect more than this title. I'll still pick it up bc I am a big fan of the RPG genre....
PS:Can someone please give my my bubble back.....Thx
is here to stay, but not in its current form. I think this one was just an experiment to see if the Wiimote would catch on. I think Nintendo will release new hardware before Sony and Microsoft. This new hardware will have the Wiimote and HD graphics. Nintendo is smart. why take a risk like that and lose money on hardware too. That is why the Wii is so underpowered. Not to mention that the over 100 million install base of PS2 games being made for the next few years can be easily ported t...
no, Im not a fanboy. I have a PS3, and a 1080p TV, and a house to put it in. I assume the average fanboy is around 14. DVD was the industry standard when the PS2 was introduced into the market. I think the consumer should be able to pick if they want HDDVD or BLURAY....it shouldnt be snuck into their home disguised as a video game system. The majority of the public don't even own an HDTV or even know what BLURAY or HDDVD are.
...and in regards to future proofing technology...

Sony inflated the price of Blu ray to begin with....Fanboys, Sony has used you to saturate the market with Bluray players disguised as the PS3. Does it feel good to be lied to? Bluray is necessary for games(MY A5S). The 360 has been out for almost 2 YRS now and how many games on 2 disks? Zero. Sony inflated the market prices of standalone Bluray players to make the PS3 look like a real steal. (Wow only $600 dollars and plays BLU RAY.....Drrrrrr...).Now that PS3 isn't selling well they can cov...
Its kinda sad. The NEOGEO was home to some really great games that were far superior to what Sega and Nintendo were offering back then. There is still mame32 though. SNK makes some of the best 2D shooters and fighters to date. I hope that SNKPLAYMORE doesn't only focus on 3D now because their 2D art style was 2nd to none.
Hey Sony fanboys. Maybe you can open your eyes a little bit wider now. Sony has used you to saturate the market with Bluray players disguised as the PS3. Does it feel good to be lied to? Now i have gone round reading many artices about which one is better PS3 or the 360 ,i am just clearing things up, which many people seem to get wrong.
I own a ps2 and a PC and to be honest i was sort of a playstation fanboy. But after reading many sites about the PS3's showing at E3 and researching on the differences between the two, i was disappointed. ME being a PC enthusiast iv tried to compare the 2 consoles.
1)Now say you were building a PC and it was the...
Kutaragi tried to interest Jobs in adopting the Cell microprocessor, which is being developed by IBM for use in the coming PlayStation 3, in exchange for access to certain Sony technologies. Jobs rejected the idea, telling Kutaragi that he was disappointed with the Cell design, which he believed would be even less effective than the Power PC.

that you fanboys will wait a year for the PS3. And then on top of that wait over a year for good games. You have collectively wasted 2 next gen gaming years bc you have Sony goggles on. Don't you actually want to play games? Or just dream about how good they might be. No game is worth that kind of delusional dedication.
You know a direct quote from Sony was " PS3 could sell 5 million consoles with no games."...........Do you really want to prove someone right who ...
Quote from engineer:
And it sucks to be a consumer with such companies being the “technology leaders”. ... The Cell processor wasn’t designed for games. Just ask IBM. ...
You do realize that Toshiba helped develop the cell processor and Blu ray lasers as well as the disks. Toshiba and Sony were supposed to both be involved with the new disk format.(and share the royalties) But Sony broke off the merger because they wanted all the royalties for themselves. Why? Bc they didn't want to share the royalties with anyone.....Greed. So over a year ago they parted ways and Toshiba started selling HDDVD players. Which is fair enough. They built up a good install bas...
You cannot buy a supercomputer for $600, an SGI rendering station(like the one used to render Spiderman 3) would cost you millions. The cell processors SPUs are not powerful for gaming applications. They are designed for streaming or imaging for Blu ray movies. The 360s three cores(PPEs) are basicly three(3.2 ghts) processors synced which all have 2 threads equalling 6 total threads(good for game coding). and also very fast. Another definate plus is they all have access to main memory whi...
