I once watched a couple freaking out at a flea market because an Avalon Hill board game had a swastika on it. It's history, people. Whether we like it or not the taliban and the soldiers fighting them are making history as we speak. Politics aside, it's a valid simulation. You don't like it, don't buy it.
If Deadly Premonition was released somewhere between Silent Hill 1 and 2, most people would be calling it a masterpiece. It's a throwback to Survival Horror games of the last generation to be sure. The graphics are comparable to D2 on the Dreamcast, but to call it "shitty", "trainwreck", "awful", is unfair since in every other aspect its rather good. If you're 30+ years old and enjoyed the survival horror stuff that appeared around the turn of the cent...
This may sell a few more copies of the game to 12 year olds, but in todays society I don't think anyone the game is intended for is going to blink an eye. What I really need to know is can I car surf?!
Classic Saints Row moment that could teach GTA alot. Getting hit and killed by a random speeding car and catching a glimpse of the driver pumping his fists in the air, and yelling "ALL RIGHT!!"
Got a better idea. If you like realism so much, why not go play real life, and lets have the GTA series become a fun video game again.
Since I am anti hype, I'll simply say this. Must have!
Not really enough info to get me excited about this title yet. Too many hyped up games in the past decade have left me jaded. McFarlane's creations often seem too fantastical to draw me in to the stories he's working on. I like my games to place an emphasis on human emotions and psychology, rather than super cyber demons, and crazy muscled mutants with swords as large as automobiles. If the game is linear I'll pass, but if it's open world, and has alot of exploration and r...
pass - I'm trying to make my gaming dollar go farther this year, and already got my fill of genuinely unique survival horror with Deadly Premonitions. Right now the only three must have titles for me before x-mas, are Fallout NV, Vanquish, and the Crazy Taxi DLC. I also agree with others who have suggested that $40.00 was the price this episodic game should have debuted at.
Red Spot games are not indy developers, they are a German distributorship owned by a Dreamcast fan. They SOLD Rush Rally Racing, and Last Hope, and other indy releases had nothing to do with the dev. Furthermore, I wouldn't advise anyone in North America do buisness with them, since I've been waiting for almost a year for my copies of Wind Water Puzzle Battles, and DUX that were paid for last September. They never return my emails, and because they were part of a pre-paid pre-order...
Strange that the Japanese have not embraced the concept of a thinking, dynamic RPG since it can be argued that Yu Suzuki was the first to experiment with the idea. Although linear in many ways, Shenmue is the first (FPRPG) that you could play over and over and discover new paths and encounters depending on your actions. Shenmue III FTW!
WTF, I've gone back to the game at least 4 times, and still find it overly tedious and boring. GTA4 was over rated, and recieved too much hype by too many newbs, and sell out reviewers. If I hear the same kind of complaints about GTA5 from the people I trust (the hardcore gamers), I'm not going to bother with that franchise anymore.
hmmm. Bayonetta is my favorite SEGA game of 2010. But I'm really not sure I need a sequel yet. The original felt inspired. I wonder if another so soon may feel contrived. Definately a title I'd wait on, and do alot of research before purchasing. I guess I'll have to wait and see what it is, and when it's scheduled to be released. The first one did take a couple of years to make.
Deadly Premonition;
IGN giving this game a 2.0 is exactly why video gamers have to sift through remake after remake looking for a game that does something innovative. While the graphics are Dreamcast era, the characters, story, gameplay, sound, and fun factor are all as good as I've played in a long time. Cross "The Ring (DC)" with "Rent a Hero (DC)", and add a story that will engross and surprise anyone with half an imagination, and you have the s...
I keep seeing Deadly Premonition on these lists of mega crap games. Although the graphics seem outdated, more like N64 or Dreamcast era, the gameplay, story, sound, and general oddness of the game make it a sleeper hit for me. If you're bored with same old, same old this summer, you might enjoy it. Warning! It starts of with a rather tedious walk down a linear path similar to Silent Hill 2. Definately not for the folks who are anxiously awaiting the latest Halo clone.
Girlfriends/Boyfriends/Spouses . All of Bethesda's previous games seem to think that riches and fame, are the rewards for becoming a hero. They forget that humans ultimately crave money and fame to attract the perfect partner, and impress our families. Love and relationships have not really been explored at all. Whether it be a rogue who collects wives/husbands, GF/BFs in each town, or a moral character who stays true to their first love, the relationship dynamic would really add some...
I think Saints 1 & 2 outsold GTA 1 & 2, and all your numbers prove is that hype sells. I've gone back to GTA4 at least 3 times after initially shelving it several hours after getting it. I find it so boring, repetitive, and tedious, that it always ends up back on the shelf. All you need to do is look at the comments posted here, and it proves that the game is nowhere near a 10. A 10 should have near universal appeal, or at least not left so many fans of the series disappointed...
Should say despite their flaws. Sorry, it's early.
Realistic vehicle physics? Perhaps the devs live in a city full of hovercrafts. Boring AI, no car surfing. They lost me there, and like many other posters on this topic, I don't believe reviewers or fake gamers anymore. Parrots and Lemmings. I enjoyed Saints Row & II alot more, for all their flaws.
The original was so much better than last years release. It was originally the best war game of it's time. Yet, every subsequent edition of this game since Neo-Nectaris has concentrated on what they thought were improved 3D graphics, improved sound and music. Problem is... The core audience liked the game with 2D maps, and the original 8bit/16bit soundtrack has never been improved. Release the original game with more content, rather than annoying graphics and a horrible soundtrack an...
Yeah, If you have no self control get a therapist not a gaming column. Sheesh.
