Strangely, I think this direction is a very good thing. Definitely see the benefit of this for playing legacy games. I've never owned a playstation console, but it sounds cool to be able to play older games that I missed out on. I hope Nintendo is paying attention, as this may be the only way for companies to dissuade emulators and roms, even if by just a small margin.
Totally agree with you. What they've done, it appears they tried their best to take the games in the context of the time released and the influence they may have had on gaming.

Excellent list. Don't agree with all, but I don't have to. Cool that they included some arcade stuff. Clearly they were going for influence on gaming as the driver.
It's difficult to program multiple branching options and maintain solid gameplay and budget. The most recent game I've played was Deus Ex-Human Revolution, that was very linear, but offered multiple ways to complete. Even when given a choice between two equally bad options, there was a third choice if you looked for it. That game was great.

The only reason to pre-order anything is if the game will be in short supply...or if you simply can't wait. The advantage of getting the game delivered on launch day is only available for pre-ordering, which is really the only advantage, which can be done just days before release. As long as the reviewer is not basing their opinion on previous reviews, and negative opinions, it seems all the more relevant. He didn't go int with preconceived notions and expectations and gave it a fair review. I can respect that.
You are right about the 3ds being uncomfortable. Price you pay, I suppose to have it portable, but there is no way this is going to be the final design. Just proof of concept for one aspect of a patent, nothing more.
perhaps it just means that for xbox, they are going to begin producing specialized gaming PCs, similar to steam machines, instead of traditional gaming consoles. With so much focus(misguided in my opionion) on graphical performance, it makes sense to go that direction. Could literally mean just about anything.
graphically superior doesn't necessarily make a better playing game. That is the point of the article, that realism is not always superior. Doesn't make anyone right or wrong, but that the emphasis on realism isn't the end all be all of gaming. I hope that as a gamer, the community can still embrace all kinds of gaming, and art styles.

It's good business. Setting a precedent for allowing free use of their IPs could get out of control very quickly. People would continue to see a moving blurry line. You've got to squelch it early if you want to maintain control of your own IPs.

I have no issues with how they are handling their own franchises. Though they need to relax more with youtubers. I'm fine with hitting youtubers that play silently without adding anything compelling.
