I don't think it is realistic to expect those things. Nintendo isn't running a charity.

Right. Good or bad, Nintendo is good at trying something new. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
If you missed the last two gens from Nintendo, then you clearly have moved on from their IPs, but you also don't really have any context to make that decision. No one is asking you to pick one or the other, that is the problem.

Already with the doom. What is the track record of your few sources. There are just as many, if not more, that contradict this. Your statement means jack. Even if true, what difference does it make? Why can't we just let things happen? Just don't buy the NX at launch, wait for the games, be patient.
There are no set markets. There are always evolving customer bases and target markets. It is simply not that simple. Do you think that Sony or MS care at all about the children's market? Nintendo has always had a wider target audience, hence a slightly different market. Maybe you are referring to the console space, however, the consoles within have nuanced and slightly different markets. Sony and MS are very similar, while Nintendo is more broad based.

I prefer the old "at the movies" scoring system, thumbs up or thumbs down. Sadly, metacritic would give a lot of zeros for below average games and 100s to games above average games that don't deserve either. Metacritic has such pull right now that if you are not conforming to their scoring structure, you are not necessarily being represented accurately. All the more reason to own the consoles the games come on. If you are such a fan of games, then why not support all three consoles? Having multiple brands of the essentially the same console is not the answer. That works for blu ray players, for example, but not for gaming consoles. Never has, and hopefully never will.
I hope they just announce the direct or whatever, and then reveal within 2-3 days. I don't think I can stay away from internet/twitter for more than that amount of time whilst avoiding spoilers and more false rumors. We all know that pretty much everything will be spoiled as soon as they announce the date of the reveal.

Only a failure if you want it to be. The games, if you are interested in what is offered, speak for themselves and the system is worth every penny, regardless of when you buy it. If the games don't interest you, then that's OK too.
I recently downloaded a few small, but fun games, magic duels, that poker game, bunch of demos. Fun for a little while. always nice to have free stuff.

True for all consoles, ever. 3 games would have been better, but honestly, three memorable exclusive games is hard to come up with for all 3 consoles so far this generation.
How interesting Football would be with moving goalposts. Would just go back and forth with no clear winner. Eventually no one would care and just focus on how fast they can potentially run.
Yet the same game can be played and the same amount of fun for a fraction of the cost. The glory of the PC is paying more for extremely diminished returns. No thanks
Fairly well written article. I hope Nintendo is watching and learning. I also hope that fans outcry can evolve into quiet contempt and wallet voting. Find something else to play, there are lots of other options. Who knows? You might find something that you like better than your nostalgia for a certain IP.
If nx has nintendo games and most third party games, I wouldn't need or want another console.
