It's not fair to compare the price to other consoles. If this was strictly a home console box, with the same power, then I would agree with you, but this is much smaller, and much more mobile. The price is fair for the tech you are getting. You have to compare with consoles at launch, not with well established consoles. $399 and $499 was the PS4 and Xbone at launch(I think). Wii U was $349, Wii was $250. What price are you hoping for, exactly? Consoles don't launch at this pri...
I wouldn't expect anything different. Not sure why anyone else would either. You buy a single copy of the game and you can use it on one system at a time. Seems reasonable to me. However, I wish there was a way for families with more than one Switch to not have to purchase multiple copies to play together. Perhaps they will expand on the download play aspect and make it more viable and widespread
Did the math. Ps4 disc takes up 4.2% of the case. Switch cart is about 1.1%. Non issue. Admittedly the article excluded this fact but was well written regardless.
Does anyone honestly believe a 3 inch square case would be preferable? Display and marketing aren't just for advertising. Basic cardboard sleeves would suffice for disc based games but I don't want that either.
Never stop gaming. That is when the industry dies a slow death.
The potential is there. Let's hope they use it fore more than mobile games with the switch.
Free to play model is killing gaming more than anything.
I'll admit that I didn't get a ps4 or xbone at launch so the launch games weren't on my radar, but this important of a game at launch may not be unheard of, but is increasingly rare in recent times. We may not want to believe it now, but gamers expectations about launch titles may be changing.
I think it is time for people to be held accountable for the shit they do online. I know they technically didn't do anything wrong, but I hope this gets back to the retail er somehow and they have real consequences. Not even going to seek out and watch the video.
And super luigi u was dlc
In my opinion, Season passes and DLC are what keeps games at $60 instead of pushing $80+. Devs already created the world, the engine, the base game, whatever at tremendous expense. If they want to create more content without having to reinvent the wheel every time, what's wrong with that. Makes perfect sense to me and cuts down on development time tremendously. Who knows, if the game is as great as it looks, we might get a full game in the same style, ala Majora's mask.

If everyone waited a couple of years for the games than their wouldn't be any games. Basically if tou don't support fairly early you shouldn't complain about lack of games later
That being said you shouldn't suppprt bad games.
Does anyone understand the phrase, "at launch" ? If it wasn't planned they would not have mwntioned it.
I hope that every first party game on the Switch has some kind of MyNintendo integration, in addition to better overall uses for coins. Rewards for achievement, even if small can be immensely meaningful.
The only way I would every consider 1-2 switch if if it was packaged with a set of Joycons, like what they did with Wiiplay and Wiiplay motion. I'm reallly glad this wasn't a pack in game, would have totally killed the overarching message of mobility/off TV being the differentiating factor in this market.
Not going to read this article, but I'll address the flamebait headline. Diffierence makes a healthy market. Difference is what makes your product unique. Difference is what drives customers to your product. Even looking at something like fast food restaurants McDonalds, Wendy's and Burger King all sell similar products, but are they the same? Do you have preferences of one, or neither. They constantly have new products. Why? So they can differentiate themselves from the compe...
Aren't we talking about the Switch? Last time I checked, the Wii U wasn't a smash hit.
I think that's where the marketing failed on the Wii U, but Nintendo seems to be doing better this time in getting the message out. Hopefully it does. I'm cautiously optimistic of its success, but It feels different than last time. Spend too much time on N4G and it makes it hard to tell, but if you broaden your scope, you will see the overall positive buzz.
Outputting a handheld to your TV is not the idea. The idea that home console quality games that are mobile and not tied to your TV out of the box and well is the driving factor here. No one else is doing this. The industry has been chasing this concept for years and now that it is doing well, things are getting interesting. If this indeed takes off and is successful, at the very least, the competion will have to respond with something.
Pretty sure Nintendo announced this in January.
