Thankfully, they don't all have it. MAG has minimal aim-assist (to the point where a lot of players thought there wasn't any, but I felt it), but I'd have been happier with no aim-assist at all.
Just because it's on consoles, with dual-analog, doesn't mean it needs aim-assist. Take out the aim-assist and players will have to adapt, get skilled, and then they'll enjoy the game a LOT more.
But aim-assist is there to help out the noobs. N...
PSN title? Go crazy! Actually, chances are it'll pay off, because that's what most of us look for in PSN titles-creativity and innovation.
In a multi-million dollar budget blockbuster title? Tread lightly. You definitely need to set your product apart from others, but don't gamble all your budget on an innovative idea, and then go bust on the gameplay and other aspects of development. That's where most of the devs who flopped this gen went wrong. I can think o...
I shoot them right away (unless it's a stealth game, then I step lightly). That way I don't have to worry about my environment so much with fear of the enemy blowing up the barrel on me.
best part of the game.
That's why it's my favorite online FPS ever--simply because no other game has ever given me the amazing feeling of leading 8, 32, and 128 players into battle!
SL is the best, because you're literally telling these 7 people what to do, while setting real-time FRAGOs on the environment, and checking your CNI, and calling in sweet Air Strikes, and while you do all that you still have to remember to pop your enemies a few in the...
MAG: 250+ hours.
Demon's Souls: 160+ hours!
It's because MAG was so addictive, and Demon's Souls required at least 4 playthroughs to get the plat (I beat it at least 6 times in all, it was so amazing--I think my last playthrough took me only 12 hours or something!).
I'm pretty sure those are my top 1 and 3 most played games ever. FF10 would sneak in at #2, with 140 hours in one game save, and one or two other completed games, so probab...
Oh man, you REALLY made me want to pop MAG in again! I stopped playing before they implemented the faction neutral maps, so I haven't gotten to experience it.
I'd be good at that, because I did my tour in every PMC, so I know every corner of every map, and how to defend and attack them properly, but it would be a pain in the ass to be playing with a team that has no idea what the hell to do on a particular map!
I was a huge MAG player, but haven't logged in for months. I did log over 250 hours in the game, and I regard it as one of my favorite FPSs ever, and favorite online FPS ever.
I don't think it'd be good for me to get back into it though, it literally took over my life! When they release MAG2 I promise I'll log in another 250 hours though.
Also because they're probably going to make a GT5 PS3 bundle. Whether they do or not, though, GT5 is going to be a system-seller. That's why Sony lets PD do whatever they want!
Also, I haven't pre-ordered my copy yet, so whatever sales numbers you have, add +1 for me!
(Edit: this was supposed to be a reply to SynGamer, so it would be under rockleex's comment, where it would make sense! Meant as a reply to rockleex.)
Only reason I checked out the list was to see if Demon's Souls was on it, so I could come here and say it really wasn't that hard. It wasn't on the list, for good reason.
It wasn't that hard... Actually, the only reason it wasn't that hard, was because you kept all your items when you died, except for souls. If you'd lose items and equipment, then the game would be near impossible.
(Best thing about Demon's Souls's difficulty: ...
... The SC2 devs.
I'm really looking forward to Move, but we have to be realistic, I don't think RTS would work. It'd work for selecting units, but you need a keyboard for StarCraft.
(Watch these vids, you'll see why: http://www2.razerzone.com/t... )
That being said, Move will be AWESOME for the action/adventure genre. Demon's Souls 2 wou...
and it could work.
(Good luck getting 200+ APM with Move! 20 might be more realistic.)
I guess saying "PS3 game" would have sounded like he was bashing the system.
But my comment stands: he gave no credit whatsoever to the devs who made the game or the console for which it was made.
You forgot: 2010 - MAG!!
That game was awesome. Anyone who's played it more than 20 hours will emphatically concur! (Notice: >20 hours means every single review out there doesn't count.)
He didn't mention Naughty Dog, the people who MADE the game. If anyone deserves credit, it's them. Also, he said "computer game" instead of "PS3 game", not giving credit for the console on which it was released.
I see no credit given in this article.
I think he just said that to try and get back on the community's good side, because his image is pretty bad right now. Peter, riding Naughty Dog's coat-tails won't bring you back into our favor.
(Actually, he didn't even have the decency of crediting ND--at least the article did mention them in the conclusion. And, FFS, would it have killed him to say "PS3 game" instead of "computer game"? He's probably paid by M$ to never pronounce tho...
-Brings nothing new to the table. NO NEWS.
-Flamebait.
-They don't even play the game, they just base their opinion on GRAPHICS in SCREENSHOTS.
-They judge the games solely on GRAPHICS... from screenshots... and they haven't played it.
-(That last one was worth saying again) No mention of audio, gameplay, physics, etc. Just graphics, from screenshots, and they haven't played it.
How is this news? ...
LOL, "downtrodden"! Been playing Deathspank much lately?!
And KB is made of win.
Sure, it's good when devs listen to their fans, but that should NEVER make them compromise on their own vision and ABSOLUTELY NEVER make them go back on decisions they've taken. That's when games like Resistance 1 become Resistance 2, Call of Duty 4 becomes Modern Warfare 2, and MAG goes downhill more and more every time an update gets released. Yes, take the fans' advice into account, but DON'T COMPROMISE on YOUR EXPERTISE. You're the dev, you know best.
In The Dark Knight, did Nolan feel the need to explain why Katie Holmes magically morphed into Maggie Gillenhall? Nope. And this is a game, redesigns happen, especially if they improve the graphics. Snake changed from MGS1 to 2 to 3 and 4, yet we always knew it was him.
MAG (sorry, I always use this game as example, but I loved it a lot!) required you to equip the Med Kit in your loadout, but then you could pull it out any time you needed it in battle, with some cooldown time.
I think it's a great middle-ground: it's kinda like regenerating-health, because you can use it any time you're in need, but it also has a cooldown and it requires the user to activate it himself. You don't just go hide in a corner and wait for your hea...
