The engine argument is getting a little old now.
I mean, developers have really started to show off what can be achieved with older engines if given the raw power to do so.

No, you're missing the point. 1.06 on consoles and 1.07 on PC were the exact same update, but with different names.
ACTUALLY, patch 1.06 on consoles and patch 1.07 on PC are the same thing.

I think what they are trying to say, is that Bethesda aren't about to pump out a new TES game straight away just because Skyrim was so successful. They are going to take their time regardless of the financials.

You must be new to the gaming industry, but for a very long time now we have had things called "Game of the Year" editions, which were basically the vanilla game with all DLC included. They usually get released about a year after the vanilla release, and cost around the same price as the vanilla game.

There is a VERY good reason why the Final Fantasies of today can't even compare to those of yesteryear, it's because modernization of JRPG's is a complete failure at this point.
If they want this remake to be successful they need to keep it as close to the original as possible, I hope Squeenix know that by accepting this challenge, they put the fate of their business on the shoulders of the nostalgia factor this game possesses.

Put it this way, from final fantasy 4 all the way up to final fantasy 10, are all amazing games. You will find a very strong case to love all of them.
But the BEST is subjective, however it almost always comes from those mentioned.
To me, Final Fantasy 7 is the best game ever created.
Final Fantasy 7 was exclusive to PSOne.
SO it makes perfect logical sense that Playstation fans take up 99% of FF7 fans.
