^ The main narrative was epic. Whether it was unique is another thing entirely.

Though, the lore context made the main narrative more interesting. Particularly, what the Archdemon and Darkspawn are and the mystery surrounding the Old Gods and Golden/Black City. There's a lot of interesting mysteries and connections there. I could go into a lot more detail, but basically Dragon Age's lore reads like a big historical conspiracy that's about to erupt.

These release date rumors get really annoying. It's not legitimate until it comes straight from the horse's mouth.

> Article about skilled artists related to PS4.
> Comments immediately devolve into venomous argument concerning PS4 hardware.

It looks like people are getting what they funded the project for. What's to complain about? Another clickbait article.

1. Mass Effect, The Walking Dead, and The Last of Us DID do very well. A point this article fails to recognize, favoring emphasis on that they don't sell as well as Call of Duty.
2. The movie industry has MANY big blockbuster-action movies that feature sex and violence with simple narrative principles. They generally do excel much more easily at the box office, too. The primary difference being that the dominant view of them doesn't stem from conceited, self-professed pundits....

Yeah, the online gaming media and community can be very hostile and venomous, toward the industry and themselves. People love taking things for granted, dwelling on the negative, and being militant and fickle about everything. The Internet just happens to be the perfect place for childish histrionics concerning those things. It's not new.

Fun just means it's being enjoyed. It's not a singular thought or feeling, because things can be fun in many different ways. People go to horror movies because it's fun to be scared and jump. I go to art museums becuause it's fun to appretiate the works and laugh at the really stupid-looking and bizzare ones. Even the most powerful tragedy dramas are considered fun, because they are good stories that are interesting to follow with a strong emotional impact, thus entertaining. ...

The game looks really interesting. I'm very much looking forward to seeing where it goes. I just hope it has enough options and content to support the innovation, which at this rate it sounds like it will.

True.

It's just that the only way to truly decide whether or not one likes a story is to experience it first-hand if the reception is a little mixed.

This review isn't the only one mentioning that the story is a bit obscure/hidden. That could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on the preferences of the individual person.

1. Don't presume you know what games are more worthy of my time and money.
2. Second-hand games at a used discount don't compare to brand new games in terms of price value.
3. Transistor has had little marketing and publicity other than its quiet little recycled demo. I've had to actively search for news about it these past several months.

Or... we can just wait to play the game, experience the story for ourselves, and form our own opinion.

Not original? Can you name something else that stars a singer celebrity wielding a giant, talking USB drive as a sword to in order to fight robotic assassins in a Sci-Fi city to get her voice back? That involves isometric real-time/turn-based gameplay?

"The game spends the opening few hours desperately trying to get players to care for the plight of Jason Brody, jock of all jocks, former owner of a no-limit black card . . . It tries, unsuccessfully, to make us care for an inherently unlikeable family."

This is probably a weird quote to pick from and OT, but I have a problem with this. What's wrong with high-class family and vibrant, successful young adults enjoying themselves? That's not "inherently u...

I liked Bastion a lot, and Transistor looks to retain its narrative and atmpospheric strengths every bit as much. All that's left to see is how this interesting new combat system pans out.

I don't think anyone cared for the wheelies in Mario Kart Wii. They only amounted to perpetual series of boosts along straight paths, requiring absolutely no skill, giving bikes a big advantage over karts.

I'm still not sure what to think about not being able to store an extra item, though at least it should make them less abusable.

"I remember a time, many years ago, when if a game people may have liked received a less than perfect score people were able to resist busting out the pitchforks and torches and refrain from reverting to troglodytes."

I certainly don't remember that. People, especially where the Internet is concerned, have always been like this.

Those "Good 'ol Days" are just rosey sentiment we tell ourselves. And usually, it's just a cheap dev...

" What features have Nintendo implemented that make us say 'Wow, no one has done this before?' The answer is simple. None."

Think before you speak. In the past 15 years? That's easy.

- Super Mario Galaxy games were praised for their use of gravity-platforming mechanics, distincly called fresh by many.
- Super Mario Sunshine was never criticized for not attempting anything new with its major use of water and propulsion -related ph...

It makes copmlete sense. For instance, you don't compared The Last of Us to Rayman Legends. Totally different genres, with totally different designs and goals in mind. Is Rayman Legends inferior for not having a storyline or big-budget visuals? Is The Last of Us inferior for lacking co-op gameplay? The answer is no to both of those.

This isn't about Nintendo as a company, but about the games the make. Mario doesn't push major storyline or voice acting because it&#...
