People will be disappointed with nextgen if all they care about is graphics. It's not the leap forward people think it should be.
Racing games on Dreamcast still look good compared to the latest forza. They can do nice things with particle effects and physics now and there is more environment interaction. That will continue. But a car is a car.

History shows that the first iterations of sports games on new hardware rely heavily on graphics and strip out game modes. Madden 06 on Xbox was far superior to Madden 06 on 360. NBA 2k series was the only safe bet back then. We'll see if EA learned their lesson or not.
It would be great for a company to take over Xbox. Microsoft wants control over every aspect of the entertainment box which destroys any type of trust a potential customer may have had.
This could open the door for a crazy future. Imagine if 2k/Rockstar took over, EA, or Activision. Could be scary.
Gears is my reason for 360.
Xbox one will do well during launch but once the smoke clears, dust settles and people realize how cumbersome it is, it will die. It will need something more than halo to save it too.
No back compatibility, huge 40 gig plus mandatory installs, and just complete lack of direction, has kept me clinging to current Gen hardware.

This is the saddest post I've read on N4g ever. Look at Fifa, Nba 2k, or The Show...now imagine a football game on that level. Madden is stale and weak.
COD equals Madden. Nuff said. The industry needs to crash so there can be quality titles again.
This was hands down worst sports gaming generation of all time. Xbox/PS2 era was lightening in a bottle because there was extreme competition in all sports games. Now there is minor differences from 2006 to 2012 in most of EA's sports titles. While you would see giant strides between '03 and '04.
There were some nice things like fight night, nba2k, but overall it sucked.
To say Nba 2k is from EA made me stop reading.
The stagnant sports games are largely due to EA's grip on the NFL license which caused 2k to go after MLB. Madden has been shit all this generation. I haven't really liked 2k baseball as much since 2005. NBA 2k shows how great football games could be by now. NBA 2k is on a level much higher than anything coming from Tiburon.
