Madden always looks good in screen shots...it's when the animation kicks in when hilarity begins. When they slide around on the field to get to their programmed position and when linebackers can jump 10 feet for an interception. The prettier they make it the more exposed the game play becomes. Critics hype Madden every year then 3 months after release they talk about how disappointing madden has become. Same damn crap every year.
It's Yu's way of getting someone to back it because he knows that the fans want it and Sega is unwilling to financially develop it.
I don't think it was Dante's look that turned people off I feel like the genre itself just doesn't sell well anymore. There are a ton of decent 3rd person action games that were great but ended up in bargain bins. Ninja Gaiden 2, Bionic Commando, Ninja Blade, Bayonetta, Vanquish, Metal Gear Raiden, Darksiders, ...some went boarderline Rpg just for a way to keep players interested before throwing back on the shelf or trading it in at gamerape stop.

Play one entire season of Nfl 2k5. Absorb the season shows and post game shows. Get into it for one season. You'll have a hard time appreciating any madden game since 2004. Madden still is playing catch up to 2k5.

I like Sonic 2 better than 3. I think that Sonic Adventure was fine. But because of Mario 64, it had an uphill battle where Sonic Adventure needed to be earthshattering.

Gamers are ruining gaming:
1. Madden and Call of duty are plain shit but make billions year after year. I've boycotted both series and others milking the franchises with no real improvements. WWE2k, Assassins creed, etc... Sick of it and gamers will eventually get bored too like the crash of '93.
2. Gamers expect too much from devs. Nitpicking endings, frames per second, resolutions, it's all noise.

I can go on but I think anyone with common sense knows it. It's more about graphics than game play these days which sucks.
After seeing that Madden is exactly the same on x1 as it is on 360, and hearing that Ea has locked up the NFL for two more years, I just have no interest. Call of duty is shit. MMOs are what rpgs become because companies watched wow reap the rewards of nickel and dime gaming so I stay clear.
Games should be remade from scratch with new hardware. Ea porting old engines with HD is not what next Gen sports should be. Shame on the gamers that buy into it year in and year out...
EA continuing to suck the life out of gaming. No wonder I don't care about gaming like I did pre dlc/micro transactions. Stick with the 360 and let this generation die. The greed in gaming has taken the fun out of gaming. It sickens me and makes me hope for the whole thing to crash and burn.
