Goodbye Respawn. No one will buy your games when they go full EA games as a service.
I'm smelling the waft of Microsoft money on some of these resolution deals with third parties, along with the heaped and arse-licking praise. Can't buy the first party devs... Just buy the graphics quality.
It's not as if they haven't been party to this type of deal before.
I agree, although I've fell out with multiplayer games of recent. The point is, gamers have been conditioned lately to care more about graphics than the actual games themselves, and a lot of publishers have got away with pushing monotonous shit out for a while now by trying to push gfx over solid, replayable, immersive games.
Don't care if it's PS4, Xbox One X, Switch or 3DS, if your game is mindless bollocks, I'm not going to care how good it looks.
Have you noticed most of the games they cancelled seem to be single player?
Much in the same vain as EA with Visceral's SW game... It won't allow them to scum a ton of extra money off the consumer.
Microsoft are not for gamers, they are for gamers wallets.
You can say any big company is, but Sony are at least delivering enjoyable, varied experiences without using a ton of micros and trying to turn their great IPs into bad multip...
The games don't play any better on Xbox One X than they do on a PS4 or PC. The only difference is resolution, and only if the devs decide to put in the extra work.
A little bit of upgrade in graphics does not make a game more playable... The point of gaming.
If you want to stare at pretty things instead of interacting with them, maybe art is more your hobby.
And those first party titles are going to be delivered as games as a service... To them, not gamers.
Inappropriate? For what?
I'd say targeting an article at kids for an 18+ game is the more inappropriate thing here. No?
Same old shit on every gamer forum. Arguments about graphics...
When games were about gameplay we had good games. Now they're about fps and resolution, the majority have no soul.
There are great games on every machine, but the ratio is declining due to these idiot tech junkies.
And £800 for a graphics card to run the games at their best these days? I'd rather play a console, despite always being a PC gamer.
They haven't. I stopped buying Activision games after the shitshow that was Destiny. Stopped buying CoD at Ghosts.
I haven't liked Activision for years, but try convincing the crack addicts we call gamers now that CoD is not what it used to be and Destiny is shite... They just call your mother a slut and go back to killing.
Nail on the head.
You said that in your reply to me. In you initial comment you never used the word majority.
Try again.
No, not at all. I fell out with Nintendo's IPs a long time ago, handheld or console. Many friends did the same.
You said, in your own words, that anyone who wasn't interested last gen, won't be this gen. A lot of gamers my age have a similar viewpoint to this. Wii U was pretty bad, the Wii was a novelty that kind of ruined some long time Nintendo fan's view of the brand. I got shot of my Gamecube pretty fast too, but returned for a few titles like Rogue Lead...
I didn't want a Wii U last cycle, but I want a Switch...
That's that theory blown out of the water.
I held off on the Switch for a while. Now Zelda, Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade are all out, I've convinced myself to get one soon.
I already have a Pro and a mid range gaming rig, so I wouldn't need an Xbox One or One X, even though I wouldn't touch MS with a bargepole anyway.
XV is an awful FF game. It lacks soul like many modern games. Pre XIII games are good to great FF, anything after is heartless guff with the brand name attached for quick sales.
XIV does not count, despite the numbered entry, it's an MMO, not a single player RPG.
More conditioning, pushing multiplayer over single player to lube Xbox fans up for games as a service.
You really all should be aware that this is Microsoft's plan, probably in cahoots with the GaaS publishers that are trying their damnest to convince us that this is the future of gaming.
You can keep your constantly paid, little effort gaming style, Phil. I'm not buying into screwing myself over.
However Xbox will soon not be in the category of gaming as most of us know it. It will be games as a service based... You know, Battlefront 2, UFC 3, lootboxes, microtransactions and forcing digital only if they can, getting around your consumer rights so they can revoke licences and control game pricing (which won't be cheap).
If anyone thinks this is bullshit, please look at the definition of GAAS from the companies that are currently using the term... EA, Microsoft, ...
I've been playing since the Atari days, and I will never go majority digital. There are enough bad practices from AAA publishers without giving them full control and also, it takes away the collector part of the hobby and leaves nothing for retro gaming in the future.
Convenient, maybe, but it's just the laziness of some gamers ('I hate getting up to change discs') that allows companies to screw us over in the first place.
Fuck off, industry shill. No clicks for you.
