Not really. I was an MMO junkie for years, but developers are too easily pushed into making them soloable and effectively killed guilds and grouping with random dungeon party finders.

I still prefer a storied single player game, always have and until someone can deliver a new Star Wars Galaxies experience, something that truly pushes teamwork, community and non-toxic grouping, MMOs are pretty much dead.

But, knowing MS and the way they want to control the industry, they could release the next Xbox a year before Sony and gamers would wait.

People know the ideas MS have going forward, and it's the same ideas as EA had with SWBFII... Games as a service.

No real gamer wants that.

NBA 2K didn't do them right. Shadow of War locked a single player ending behind a grind or lootbox purchasing spree, Activision are trying to develop an MT linked progression model for Destiny in future and also read about their patents.

I think I'm being fair in my naming of shameful behaviours.

EA need to stop being the only company that is being brought up for this.

As far as I have seen in the past few months, 2K, Activision and Warner Bros. are also moving in the same circles.

Maybe we should be seeing more articles featuring all the publishers who are treating their customers like cash machines. Start pushing against them all and we'll soon have a more even playing field.

They didn't poorly communicate anything. They thought they had a loyal user base that would take it up the ronson, no matter what they did.

How can you miscommunicate DRM, having Kinect on at all times and being mandatory and passing on all data to the NSA...

They're a bad company, period.

Now they want to head into always paid GaaS territory so they can milk consumers more, while ignoring their base's need for single play...

I would rather have Sega back. Microsoft seem to know or care nothing of gamers and rely on throwing money at third parties and then trying to control creativity to monetise their work to get as much profit a possible.

There's a balance between making money while delivering something your customers will enjoy and stay loyal for.

I enjoyed the Beta. It would have been nice to not have a timer on missions, so that we could explore a bit, but it looks and plays great.

The locking could be a little better, as whiffing strikes is a bit too commonplace, but looks like there's an absolute mountain of stuff to do and master.

Just die already gamingbolt. We know you hate Sony... But you're that obsessed, you can't just write Xbox articles instead.

Who keeps approving the leprous shit?

Can't wait. Been missing games like MediEvil for years.

And I liked the 'conference'. It had a nice vibe to it. No guys in suits trying to sell you their next microtransaction fuelled games, no coked up sports game host with obligatory uninteresting sportsman looking baffled, and no Phil McXbox looking stick-up-the-arse uncomfortable without his suit on.

As always. Don't get much outside the US like this.

I can respect that. Unfortunately, it seems Microsoft have committed to games as a service, as they've stated a few times now.

They do have a tendency to change their views when they're losing the popular vote though.

The problem is that they are too interested in making money, while ignoring what gamers as a whole want... Varied gaming experiences.

I think they get too involved in the development process, instead of hiring grea...

Killzone and Resistance... Multiplayer was great on both series. I'll admit Resistance lost it after the first a little, but Killzone was great.

Jesus. All these politicians and Mary Whitehouse folk these days.

If it's not the weirdo new generation, complaining that there's no women protagonists and that every game's story is about saving princesses, it's the older generation who don't understand interactive entertainment is classed as games as a generalisation.

The bastards have been looking for a way to tax games for an age now. They'll find anything wrong with them.

What the fuck was that?

Aye well, you can keep your GaaS beast. I'd rather have good, playable games than a wee boost in resolution.

Enjoy.

Play better? Did they add extra mechanics to these games too?

Must have missed where they made Destiny 2 less repetitive, let people play end game content without buying DLC, and got rid of the shitty engrams.

It apparently got refunded more than whatever our favourite game is too, Tank.

Did you not see the news today?

3025d ago 1 agree2 disagreeView comment

Who cares? Don't care about it on any resolution. Another shitty AAA repetitive game trying to fuck gamers over with monetisation, with more to come from recent news no less.

Keep yer pishy games as a service machine and the games that go with it.

It was pretty much confirmed when they announced Keiichi Okabe was returning for Automata.

I still listen to the first Nier's soundtrack regularly too, and I'm not one to listen to game tracks that often.

No idea what they are missing. I also loved Chrono Cross' soundtrack. One of those scores that goes perfectly with the story.

Nier Automata deserved that best soundtrack award, despite what anyone else on here says.
