Well yea, but for the most part eventhough the game developer start their own server to advertise the game; within month the game is being hosted by 3rd party companies. As matter of fact one can host their own server or even rent them on the PC. So if the company that develops the game wants to pull out, the game is still out there. That's not the case with consoles. If the company that makes the games pull the plug than the game is dead.

Extended warranty for the 360 is only $60 and it will cover your console for 2 years on top of the year one is getting. I understand if the console lifespan is already within 3-4 years. But when a new console is released most likely you will be using it for at least 3-4 years. I'm not complaining about the games the PS3 has or will get or what the 360 didn't have. But I would be pissed of as a 360 owner if microsoft would be spending resources on making the 360 linkup with the zune so I can play games on the zune screen intead of the tv while ignoring what gamers are asking for in terms of online service, etc.
