@tails. Actually, breathtaking is relative to the person who is making that decision and to their previous experience in games.
For someone who grew up on Doom then this could be breathtaking to them in the relation to what it looked like in the 90s. To someone who has never played a game that was not made this gen, then no, it might not be.

That's a very good point JsonHenry. Nowadays we are so saturated that it takes a lot to get us going. I remember in my teen years in the 80s, I would find a playboy and was like "Holy Shit!" Now, it's like looking at a Sports Illustrated. I get more graphic pics ala spam in my email account.
The old Resident Evil and Silent Hill games scared the crap outta me but with all the FEAR movies and stuff I am totally de-sensitized to it all.
I thought the graphics were pretty decent in the last one. However, the original RE was more atmosphere and that is what I think has been lacking in the last couple installments.
Take a game like Demon's Souls; Not the best graphics but man what an art design they laid out for us and the atmosphere was just wonderful.
As for the control scheme, I have to agree and say I hate it but at the same time not being able to move always makes my heart beat faster...
@tiffac: Hmm, you might be correct. I played thru evil on hard 1st and got less than playing thru good on easy. So...don't listen to the old fart!

Word to the wise if your going for the plat....its harder on evil and you get less points. So make sure you buy all powers. You get 15k at the end for beating both sides but that can still be tough to purchase all upgrades if you didn't grind whilst playing evil.
Agreed. If they see good sales on the 360 that is def more capital for the ps3 version. Regardless, I am stoked to play it on my 360 and when the ps3 version comes out will play again for trophies.
When I had my ASUS I was so addicted to Mass Effect 2 that I would play it in my living room on my TV, then take it into my bedroom and lay in bed and play. When the girlfriend wanted me over for the night, she would surf online a lot, I could lay in her bed and keep playing. Pretty sweet.
Call me ignorant but I thought it was near impossible to upgrade stuff in a laptop. Many people I talk to say it's so compact that unless you have serious skills you will mess up your laptop?
My ASUS laptop was taken and I am saving up for another rig and if this is true that you can upgrade laptops I will get one of those instead.

Careful what you wish for. Once all media is sold a la digital distribution, DRM will be a nightmare.
Say you download a new game and pay for it. Now your PS3 or 360 dies. With a hard copy you just toss in the disc to the new system and keep playing, maybe losing your save if you did not back it up. With a digital copy, you have to log on, call their support and try to convince them that it is you, the original purchaser and get your game reactivated.

@ocelot...what if windows 8 uses some sort of cloud computing that takes a lot of the processing portion away from the pc? Obviously it wouldnt be free but what a perfect feature of LIVE Diamond. Pay 50 year and take ur games to ur pc
@fullmetal. no, not at all but uninformed parents are not going to invest in computers so their kid can play games. they see console at waLlmart and on tv so that is what they buy.
@andyboy: My point is a parent is not going to buy a nice gaming rig for a child. A console is just one square piece of plastic that is kid friendly. If you listen to the mentality of those people on LIVE and PSN, they do not exert a great deal of common sense.
I would never buy my 13 year old kid a gaming PC and expect her to be able to take it apart and switch out graphic cards and whatnot. It would be broken in a week.

It's the casual market that is doing them in. Mom and Dad are not going to give little Timmy a $1000.00 computer and let him play games on it. Little Timmy probably does not know how to format a hard drive, let alone adjust advanced settings, trouble shoot in the game files, download mods, etc.
Mom and Dad buy a little square box that only requires Timmy to push a button and insert a disc to play his games.
Question about that...So, let's say I have windows 8 and a pretty decent rig (I don't but this is hypothetical), would I see an upgrade it graphics and frames per second or is all that coded into the disc and regardless of the medium it runs the same?

I agree with nbnt. NextGen means, "Next Generation". We are in "this generation". WE will never be in next because as soon as you are in it then it is current gen.
Even if you had a time machine you would always be in "this gen".
