I've played the game since last week and so far it's been great. Very rarely I've had lag, and I've just had a disconnect out of several matches I've participated in.
Well, I've played it daily since tuesday 14, and I don't remember having any glitches that hampered my experience. The worst I've had is that I got stuck in a high place in Endor only once... and it helped me as a vantage point from which I defeated a few enemies before being downed myself. Apart from that, I've had a smooth experience, no nasty lag, only one disconnect after starting a Starfighter map. The Starfighter maps remind me of my Star Fox 64 days. The story campaign ...
Yes, the game is actually good. Stable connection, no lag, and in my experience working with your team is more important than boosts gained through Star Cards.
Awesome... although another game taking place around the same timeframe as VC1 is repetitive. VC3 did that too.
Still, excited for this.
And CoD WWII, which is #1, ALSO has loot boxes. Either way, loot boxes win this week.
It was #2 in sales and #1 in revenue. Yes, people still bought it.
Despite the lower sales, it's still #2 (and the article says it was still #1 in revenue), beaten only by CoD WWII. Not much to celebrate here.
Besides the loot box controversy, other factors could also be affecting it: Lately most AAA sequels have apparently sold less than their predecessors (Watch_Dogs 2, Wolfenstein 2, Dishonored 2 didn't have as many sales as their predecessors in their first weeks or so I've heard); digital sales have increased in the last y...
Awesome.
The controversy in the end will barely dent BFII's sales... or it may even boost them, it could serve as publicity. The average consumer doesn't seem to be bothered by loot boxes according to some studies, such as the one done by NPD:

BF2 doesn't have as many problems as MEA did. I've played the game daily since tuesday, and so far I've not gotten glitches, multiplayer is fine, I've had just one single disconnect. Teamwork and coordination in my experience is more important than Star Cards when it comes to winning matches.
Good points. Also, how could I forget about Count Dooku...
No Game Boy Advance port, no buy.
That theory is crazy... yet awesome.
Heroes: Ahsoka Tano, Obi-Wan Kenobi (Young and Old appearances), Qui-Gon Jinn, Wicket, Kit Fisto, Shaak Ti, Mace Windu, Aayla Secura.
Villains: General Grievous, Moff Tarkin, Grand Admiral Thrawn, Asajj Ventress, Jango Fett... uh... anyone know more SW villains?
Some people want to fight microtransactions by claiming that they foster gambling in people... trouble is, by saying that they're admitting that gaming really can influence people, which could be an argument in favor of those that for decades have claimed for censorship of depictions of violence and sex in gaming.
Other games have had microtransactions yet they've been successful, Shadow of War being a recent case. This apparent victory against EA may be an isolated...
To be honest, the controversy in the end is a form of publicity. By cutting the cost of heroes by 75% and then removing MTs, EA must have won themselves quite a few buyers.
Also, it's released close to the holiday season AND the new movie. Anything Star Wars will fly off the shelves, as the average consumer doesn't seem to care or even know about microtransactions.
Perhaps they expect that, with the removal of MTs, more people will now buy the game? In the end, money is money, no matter where it came from.
Also, with the holiday season and the new movie, there'll be a lot of hype for anything Star Wars. Apparently the average consumer doesn't know about microtransactions, or isn't bothered by them.
I already miss Cai Wenji's harp...
Companies like EA will just adapt and evolve. Events such as the recent backlash over Battlefront II's microtransactions is for them a learning experience on what they can and can't do. They'll come up with smarter, sneakier ways to monetize their products.
Battlefront II at least will offer all major DLCs as free... CoD WWII, besides microtransactions, has a $50 Season Pass.
