@King_Noctis: It's a good thing no one said that Sony didn't need any competition. And you make person number 2 that cannot discuss things without making it personal. That says a lot.
For being nothing more than 'a print on the screen', you sure are getting worked up about it. But, you're checking out, so let the water under the bridge continue to flow. ;P
I didn't say Sony didn't need competition. I said it doesn't have to be Xbox. And, the 'real gamer' talk wasn't misquoted. You simply shouldn't have said it. No such thing to begin with. It is a superiority complex and little else.
So, not confused nor ridiculous. That is just how bad your post read. ;)
Sony doesn't need Xbox as competition, though competition, itself, is good. But, let's not pretend that Playstation was in dire need of someone like them when the PS1 (and 2) existed either without them at all or with very little input.
As for this 'real gamer' talk, you can be one of those and still not care for Microsoft.
He just called his opinion a fact. That is all you need to know.
IGN's too!
@XtaZ: Yeah, PS4 was also mocked in the beginning. Means nothing. That’s just what people do. In the end, when their consoles are judged, games are not ever what they lacked.
As for ‘ups and downs’, that’s a side step to the point.
Again, Sony doesn't struggle with game releases. It's only a 'blind purchase' if they did. And yes, I do plan on snapping up a PS5 early on......due to that.
The first year is never going to have the best games. That's very much a 'no shit' kind of thing. Doesn't mean there won't be anything to play at launch. The longevity is what will matter more, and if history repeats itself, Sony will have no problems there.
Same can't go for Sony. They've never had issues 'showing the games'. That is all on Microsoft.
The 360 did not dominate last gen. At all. That was the Wii. The 360 sold more units in the United States.
Your second part about dominance is true, but Xbox has never done it and there's no reason to assume it will next gen. Brand will also play a role in places like Europe (where Xbox is so far behind, Sony would have to, literally, stop selling consoles there for them to ever have an edge).
The only reason the systems were 'neck and neck' last gen was due to Sony's early mistakes. Not something magical Microsoft did. Pound-for-pound, Xbox won't ever beat PlayStation when they are on their A game. Europe and Japan will ensure that.
What I CAN see happening next gen is a little more competitiveness out of Microsoft, and if they play their cards right, they'll have closer weeks with the PS5 (they'll still be outsold weekly, though). But, a...
Interesting. I didn't see it posted and now I know why. The duplicate hasn't been approved either.
"Sony is just a small company that only has PlayStation as their source of income"
Based on that statement alone, no one should take anything you say seriously.
Explain how, and why, they'd be 'sweating bullets'. And I chuckle at the 'silent partner' talk. These companies are all in competition for your dollar. The sooner you understand business, the better your discussions will be.
Right now, the last company that should be in a 'trembling' position is the company that just wrecked its closest competitor in a way that would make Rocky Marciano jealous.
'Very underwhelming' for you.
OT: Can't wait to see more of what looks like an absolutely unique experience. Can always depend on Kojima to step away from the "same".
It is a premium PS4. That is still a PS4.
No, it does not.
Yup.
OT: Don't think VR really needed saving, but I'd say that Sony has seemingly pushed it the hardest!
Detroit is also my winner!
@King_Noctis: Uh, yeah, Nintendo IS a legit competitor to PlayStation. They actually make games that push the industry forward. Like Sony. It is, once again, Xbox that could bow out and it wouldn't hurt the other two in a substantial way. No, they are not necessary.
If you ask me, bring back SEGA. They knew what 1st party content was all about and constantly released plenty of games (again, like Nintendo and PlayStation).
