So ready to defend that you posted it twice.
In any event, I have a more accurate quote: "It's dead, Jim".
@Reaper22_
No consoles are NOT "basically PCs anyway". You clearly don't use both for gaming or you wouldn't say that. Just because Xbox is no longer needed doesn't mean the traditional console market is dead. Far from it, in fact. Years after Xbox is a distant memory, Nintendos and PlayStations will still be here.
Uh, the proof is Nintendo and Sony’s financials. They don’t hide hardware numbers, unlike Microsoft. You know this and still willfully take an ignorant stance.
You talk about proof, where's the proof that they've sold at least 30 million Series S/X consoles?
You could have said this more comfortably before this gen. Now? There's next to no reason to own one. ALL of their games are coming to PlayStation and/or Switch (in addition to day-and-date with PC) and they've lost a tremendous amount of goodwill in the industry.
As a platform, a traditional Xbox console will not be happening going forward. An Xbox-branded PC? Sure. But Xbox, as a sole console platform? Nah.
Show us the article/sources with these sales numbers.
Yes, it matters. This is business! Some gamers have to stop acting like it only matters when the company they prefer wants to play ball.
@Reaper22_
No, this was NOT their plan all along. They had to pivot because their original plans failed. They are not playing some 4D chess here. They lost tremendously and realize their only recourse is to put their properties on PlayStation. You need to accept that.
Sure isn’t, and wouldn’t be surprised to see more of this in the future.
Yeah, as far as traditional consoles, Xbox is done. Its fans here are clearly in denial and the new marching orders are suddenly “yaaaaay, no more exclusives”. Meanwhile, we know damn well they’d be singing a different tune had the Series consoles not crapped the bed and were doing big numbers! Microsoft dropped the ball, no way around that!
That said, yes, their strength is in software, better for them to capitalize on that. Leave the consoles to Nintendo and Sony.
You really need to go outside more. PlayStation as a brand is doing the best it ever has, Xbox is not. That “device” is going to be a PC next gen, regardless of what “name” they slap on the box. PS6, on the other hand, will be a traditional console.
Just accept that your favorite box lost and will be pivoting instead of trying to pretzel your way into complete foolishness.
It’s another one of “those” accounts. Pay it no mind!
Again you don't know what you're talking about. Daytona/SEGA Rally, as examples, never sold ANYWHERE NEAR what GT has and has never been as popular either (particularly in EU). Put out a new Daytona and GT8 and watch the latter absolutely dog walk it in sales. On top of that, most of those games are very different from one another. They can co-exist. If you want to go there, the highest selling "racing" series is Mario Kart. Hint: console. It hasn't been an Arcade + PC &...
Nintendo games already reach eye popping sales. In fact, neither PlayStation nor Nintendo really HAVE to put their games on other systems. Even Sony's PC releases don't sell anything big (outsold of outliers like Helldivers II).
That said, I agree about Microsoft with Xbox. Outside of being a gateway to Game Pass, they should drop the platform and cut their losses. Stick it out as a 3rd Party pub and make bank that way.
Why point at PlayStation exclusives when Xbox LITERALLY has none? Y'all love to deflect. I get that being an Xbox fanatic now is as comedic as it ever winning a gen, but c'mon.
Correction, Mr. soon-to-be-banned Alt #5,000,000: Xbox is on its way out. Nintendo and PlayStation will remain, in their current and traditional forms, years after 2025. At best, the next "Xbox" will be a custom PC with that name slapped on it. Not a device with heavy R&D and treatment like the failed Series consoles. You think Microsoft is bringing all of their games to PlayStation as a charity? It's a survival tactic and that genie cannot be put back in the bottle.
Show us examples. Otherwise, like he said, no one takes you serious.
OT: Anyway, it’s great to see the two players who actually put effort into this industry thriving!
No it hasn’t. When utilized properly, it’s been fantastic. Devs who had problems should have just not used it. It’s a tool, not a necessity.
He doesn’t have to do anything. Like clockwork, you’ll be banned before the day is over.
Every. Time! They compare the closing of a studio (one I liked, mind you, but they know their business better than internet dwellers) to the departure of not one but TWO major figureheads at Xbox. On top of Xbox's other problems, they are also now selling their games everywhere (not just PC).
Sorry diehard Xbox fanatics, we've been down this road before. PlayStation has closed studios. It happens. Maybe they weren't pulling their weight. Maybe they have a restr...
