So they'll be timed exclusive/console exclusive. I think time will tell if it's a bad idea or not, definitely devalues the prospect of getting a PS4 a bit but I don't think people are on board with streaming services (for gaming) just yet until internet improves significantly and quality of the service (although I hear Nvidia's is pretty good but to expensive). So I would not expect things to change much.
@Liqu1d
Well it could improve. Xbox One's recording is only at 720p 30fps and (as it was revealed today by a leak) it's going to change to 4K 60fps recording. I know it's not the same thing but I don't see why Sony can't imrpove their streaming service especially when Nvidia has a similar service that can do 4k streaming. And the same goes for the latency, all these things can be improved. We live in a world where the biggest games are MP games (overwatch, CoD, BF...
I'm not saying that at all. But playing a game (say Bloodborne) on PC via streaming and playing it natively on a PS4 gets you the same experience, does it not. Didn't say anything about owning.
Hardware doesn't make Sony a ton on money, it's the software there selling on it. This move is clearly to future proof Playstation and viable source of revenue for Sony. It make sense from a business standpoint.
Sorry. *I guess the Nintendo Switch will be the only one with exclusives soon.
Fixed it for you. Side Note, don't see the point of the service if Sony don't put their own games on there. Most of the third parties/indies are already available on PC.
I can't wait to see the people that were saying there is no point in owning an Xbox One cause their games are on PC, defend this decision. Gonne be funny to see them immediately switch their tune.
Good for those people who don't have a PS4.
I guess the Nintendo Switch is the only one with exclusives now.
Congrats to Sony, well deserved after releasing such a great lineup of games (Nioh, GR2, HZD and Nioh this week). I can't stop playing Horizon Zero Dawn, think it will go down as one of the best new IPs of the generation by the end.
"MS have been teasing scalebound and fable legends for a long time then canceled them."
Being pissed off about those games being cancelled is one thing but claiming MS are going to stop making games or stop focusing on them is a different thing completely. The Last Guardian did eventually release but a 10 year cycle to release a game should not be tolerated either... some would argue that it should have been cancelled. It definitely made little money if any for So...
"after closing alot if studios" - Sony has closed 2 studios too this generation and 3 more since 2012. Doesn't mean anything, it's how business work.
Every studio cancels games... maybe it was simply trash, maybe it needed significant amount more time and money so MS cancelled cause they were probably gonna make no money cause no one buys JRGs on Xbox, we don't know but games get cancelled all the time (it just so happened this one was announced)... Sc...
Adding another service doesn't mean replacement of a studio... the two aren't mutually exclusive. Nothing to do with one another. We don't need another article telling us MS need to get their first party and second party content in order while trying to spin this game pass into a bad thing...
Lionhead (and other studios) were probably shutdown cause of their output, which of course is MS's fault in what project they chose to focus on. But their a business an...
So cause MS are offering a subscription service (which seems great for certain gamers) that allow's people to play a 100 games for a certain price every month... they must not be making exclusive content ? okay. That logic is sound.
Why are people trying to spin this as a bad thing ?
Should be, they could simply bring over the PC version to Scorpio seeing as it's all made on UWP. Allowing devlopers to easily develop games across all platforms. I think developers will definetly adopt UWP more with Scorpio dropping the ESRAM in favor of GDDR5. Dev's will like that.
Yeah must be hard being Phil Spencer, you try do your job and interact with Xbox fans. 20 articles are made on what you said all full of comments moaning that your not doing a good enough job or your just "talking PR". I mean people won't even wait till E3 (or that rumored event) to show off and talk about the Scorpio and announce new games.
" Another option developers might consider is frame-rate upscaling - running graphics at 60Hz but the CPU at 30Hz and interpolating animation."
This sounds like one of the clever sacrifices 343i made with Halo 5, even though the game ran at 60 fps the animations in game ran at 30 fps. That's just something I relate it to and if developers have to make sacrifices like that to get native 4k at 60 fps, I don't really care for it. I would rather a better looki...
I mean to something better than Jaguar. Like Zen. Or the system will be bottle-necked.
How it this a Leak ? This is all information that has been readily available on MS Portal since after the Xbox Scorpio reveal. Seems to indicate, to me anyway, that techniques that developers are learning and using on the Pro now will also be available on Scorpio. So Xbox Scorpio being advertised at Ryzen booth at CES could mean they've changed thier minds how they'll achieve 4k gaming and VR since E3 last year.
If MS want this machine to be a capable 4k machine the...
No, it's like if Halo 5 launched with Xbox One or Uncharted 4 on PS4. But also if those games were on the last gen consoles.
It's also available on the Wii U so there is no immediately reason for me to get it until Mario Odyssey. Most of the other games seem to be ports like Mario Kart, Splatoon, Dragon Quest, I am Setsuna, Skyrim, Fifa etc. Nothing really exciting or new, except some obscure indies or small titles, which is my problem. But Breath of the Wild does l...
Beause it depend on the software and conditions. e.g. Zelda will be usable for about 3 hours (which I assume is oen of the most demanding game).
Internet is always going to improve, there is Nvidia's streaming serivce that already supports 4k streaming.
If they port there games to PC, do they go with Steam and then they take a sizable chunk of the profit ? No Sony ain't gonna do that. Releasing it on their own service means they'll continue to see the profits.
PS4 was selling even without exclusive content. It's gonna continue to sell cause people enjoy the convenience of console g...
