"This isn't rocket science. They used to make games exclusively for Xbox and now they don't." - No they didn't, they released the Max Payne games on Playstation before they made Alan Wake and Quantum Break for Xbox. They were not exclusively making Xbox games.
"They could've acquired Remedy years ago but they opted not to. Playground is next." - That's not how it works, if these studios want to be independent, they will remain indepen...
I must say there really pulling out all the stops with Scorpio from a hardware standpoint. Scorpio is looking like a big leap in terms of technology from Xbox One. Now if they can show us the big benefit on Scorpio titles from Xbox One titles at E3 (and announce a few new games that will take advantage of the consoles power), the Scorpio could be of to a good start this year.
Free Sync is always something I wanted in consoles. Good Job Xbox Team.
You hope there fortunes change now that they support Playstation ? Were you rooting against them until now ?
How did they lose exclusivity ?
They don't/never owned Remedy, don't have them under contract or anything. Remedy are opening up more teams and hiring more people which will come with more risk. So it makes complete sense why they'd wanna release across more platforms. I say the more the merrier, means potential for more gamers to play their games and more success to well received IP.
So suddenly power doesn't matter either ? Goes both ways.
All the fanboys have flip flopped. It's actually rather amusing to observe.
Well with Sony dominating the generation sales wise, I see them in no rush to start the generation again. Assuming the PS5 and Xbox Two are completely new systems and not just another iteration on the existing consoles which is what Scorpio and Pro are. Both continue with the same GPU and CPU architecture to maintain compatibility. At least that's not what I want. So I reckon we won't see a proper next generation till 2021.
Phil shouldn't release games for the sake of releasing games. He needs to invest in new IP, open/acquire another 2 studios and give them the time they need to fully devlop it, hell maybe bring back an old IP like Kameo or Crimson Skies. But none of that is gonna happen over night, meanwhile everyone is gonna moan about them not releasing new exclusives right now. They need to release quality games.
Right around the corner, you must be mad. Sony is still selling PS4's like crazy and just released the PS4 Pro. With MS releasing a suped up X1 at the end of the year, we won't be seeing next gen till at least 2021 IMO, 2020 at the earliest. Sony is dominating atm, there not gonna start a new generation just cause MS are releasing a more powerful system.
Yeah, Xbox is suddenly gonna become the best seller. Scorpio is for the hardcore, Xbox One S and
PS4 Slim will still be the better selling consoles.
At the same time, he did make it very clear that he isn’t criticizing the CPU- as a matter of fact, he holds that this was probably the most sensible thing Microsoft could have done. “I’m not criticizing the CPU,” he said. “It was the only logical choice for the system, and really the only option MS had was to upclock the Jag and put in some extras to help. There is nothing wrong with what they did. I just think the people acting like it’s a bigger improvement than it is are kinda silly.” <...
Most Games are GPU bound mate. And they've integrated DX12 into the command processor which will improve the efficiency further.
They delivered on the hardware. Now they need to deliver on the Software.
I don't think anybody (any sensible person) was expecting game reveals today. So at E3 they need to deliver Games and a good price point, then Scorpio could do pretty well. But it's still aimed at hardcore so I don't expect it to move the needle in terms of sales by much.
You trivialize it yet they have to advanced cooling hardware to keep the thing running effiecently.
"vapour-chamber cooling, similar to the set-up seen on the high-end GTX 1080 and GTX 1080 Ti PC graphics cards." - Has to use cooling seen in Higher End cards released this year.
Just like the PS4 it's catered to the hardcore market. I wouldn't expect it to change sales dramatically unless they drop the Xbox One name and get it down to a really competitive price point. Basically sell it as a brand new Xbox system. Which I don't think they will do. I could be wrong though, they could try market it as a new Xbox that is backward and forward compatible.
Remember when Xbox fans were saying PS4 wasn't that much more powerful than X1 and here we are nearly 4 years later and it's reversed now and people who made it a big deal then are trivializing the Scorpio's power differential now.
Oh the Irony.
what are you talking about MS didn't say anything, the hype was getting out of control from speculation around leaks. MS delivered on what they promised.
Well deserved. Game is great.
Same logic can apply to anyone with a low end rig. The majority of PC gamers don't have a high end hardware.
Wow you are bending over backwards to defend this. And I'm not talking about ownership, yes you are basically renting the game on PS Now
But look whatever way you cut it, your going to be able to experience a game like Uncharted 4 on PC without owning a PS4. So no it's not exclusive. You can play the semantics card all you want but does not hold much water. I own a PS4 and this announcement doesn't bother me and shouldn't anyone else but no if games like UC4...
Whoop! Whoop! Looking forward to it. A lot of games have planted there release dates in August already. And it ain't even E3 yet. I suspect this will be another holiday packed to the brim with games.
