i would buy this as soon as I can on Steam (they even have it preorder) but only once they port it to mac. It's just not the same playing on a win7 10 inch netbook nor bootcamping to it (since that's all I have atm). In the meantime, I'm still terrorizing the neighboring empires in Civ4.

I wouldn't put bethesda fallout on that list. If anything and in my humble opinion, they turned an interesting rpg universe (fallout 1 & 2) into an 'fps with perks' sort of like bioshock. Other than the setting and pipboy, nothing about Fallout 3 reminds me of the uber-cool post-apocalyptic sensation Fallout1/2 really brought out.

personally I'm not a big fan of id. They make extremely mind-boggling graphics possible on current-gen hardware, but their games lack a lot of depth and feels very sterile. Valve on the other hand makes games that - though are not graphically competitive if you put it next to id's stuff - are very dynamic and organic. Something you could appreciate and call it an 'experience'

I hope they're not letting the kids play shooters and games like GTA in there. Killing and violence doesn't really sing well in a hospital environment. I would've thought Wii since it's more casual friendly, but it's good they're playing rockband and ncaa there. Hopefully, those kinds of games are the only genre available.
This rationale of your post is sound. If they were to invest onto a longer-lasting console at this point, their investment would bring in more profits in the long term. Considering at this point of the generation, it is possible for MS to release a new system in a few years and developers will need to develop on an entirely new system again. It is less costly for them to put more effort onto the system that will generate better returns.

kinda difficult to tell if some shots on the net are direct-feed or not to really see if jaggies are present. Could be bullshots. Though it is indeed true that GoW3 exhibits little to no jaggies in most of the scenes. The "jaggies" in the maze garden during the green illusion are deliberate though.
like the hdtv buyers that didn't jump in when hdtvs were just barely around ... I say wait until next year then purchase a 3dtv. It'll be more reasonably priced by then. Notice almost every single big movie in hollywood is also in 3D nowadays?

i tried the motorstorm pr, pain, and ssdhd 3d demos at my local sony style store and they were really impressive. I'd have to say the sony 3dtv sets/experience blow away the panasonic 3dtv i tested out at the best buy magnolia center.
granted, it's not for everyone. Some customers were impressed and felt natural to them, while some others couldn't get used to it. But the particles effects... they were amazing in 3d.

Bubs+ for the vid. That demo is pretty sweet use of the avatar. I like the way it jumps and responds really quick. The sad part of those tech demos (like the wolverine-mimicry in the IGN one) is that they never get implemented. I'm not a developer. No experience in that whatsoever. Do those kinds of implementation have to be packaged into some library before developers can [or want] to make use of it?
Until we see developers actually making games 1:1 and not pre-can...
