Skyrim isn't game of the year because it came out last year.
Herp derp.
As long as it ISN'T a prequel like a few here seem to hope. Prequels lack excitement because you kinda know what happens from the outset. You know XYZ cannot die because they appear in the next game, this also makes plot choices inconsequential.
Though either-way I am a little disappointed they backed down on their "Trilogy" goal for obvious milking, still a chance this will be the end of Shepard's story and the start of someone elses.
The game is pretty charming overall but has zeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr o drive. No quests or anything once you're past the tutorial. You're just supposed to grind, grind and grind. Worse yet the tutorial lets you out at roughly lvl5 and all the mobs you're supposed to grind on are around lvl16.
Will absolutely fail on a subscription model, but might still have draw as f2p.
Semi-colon is confused.
Pretty shameless ripoff of Terraria.
Absolutely pointless and hype driven. Hard-drives account for the least speed factor of all components (if you have enough ram it all gets loaded in there and NO harddrive performance is factored in at all) and on the PS3 it would only make ANY difference if the game is installable and even then only effect load times.
I've played pc games for 20 years now and you know what? Hell yes 24fps is "fine". Your eyes CANNOT see beyond this. Yes yes I know you all think you're supernerd (akin to audiophiles hearing inhuman frequencies) but I hate to break it to you that you too can only see 24fps. 24fps without dips is perfectly smooth.
Beyond that your eye only catches that things are accelerated. You are NOT seeing more frames, your game is just running at 1XX% speed and you'...
LET'S JUST REVIEW EVERYTHING!
Totally calling dibs on reviewing delay announcements and patches.
Right on most counts there but content /= cost. Modern development principals are screwed up the logistics kazoo with publishers outsourcing bits of each game in micro installments, larger and larger teams are also being hired to produce games far less cost effectively than solo indie groups do or old developers (which were roughly the same size).
Remember, software has no real world manufacturing cost. The only costs are labour and ironically, the people who hired the labour...
They sure are afraid of giving out a damned release date though.
Problem is America was essentially the bad guy in Vietnam which is why games and media avoid it as much as possible because it is extraordinarily difficult to portray the shit that went down there as any sort of "justice".
HOWEVER It would be truly interesting to be in shoes of a soldier who begins to realize how screwed up the war is, forming doubts, disobeying orders and possibly even abandoning the front lines and having to escape on his own. (Though chances of ...
*Looks around* Do you see anyone laughing? I only see comments complaining, and by all means this guy should be banned too.
Sadly some RPGs have done this. One of the expansions to NWN2 had you constantly degrading (especially with rest) and required you to progress to "unprogress" your character's health condition. But you're right though, it ruined that game for me as I couldn't even experience half the world before running ahead to cure myself in a panic. (Breath of Fire on PS2 also did this but to a somewhat lesser degree)
"Gaming Journalism" is this era's greatest oxymoron, finally overtaking its arch-rival "Military Intelligence" at long last.
This is better news than it seems. They're simply a publisher. You know, the guys who market the games, slap drm on and take most of the earnings? The actual developers can POTENTIALLY be unaffected by this as quality titles like Darksiders, Saints Row and so will definitely find other publishers to pick them up if bankruptcy hits and the licenses are forfeit.
Assassin's creed is further from a stealth game than Battlefield is and certainly not traditional. There isn't even a sneak button! You literally RUN and RUN and JUMP and hope guards have poor memories because damn skippy they're going to hear and see your flashy metal plated robe behind.
Elsweyr has the most surprise potential but from Skyrim's redguard's description of hammerfell having vast oceans in the middle of sanddunes, I suspect that could look and feel amazing.
You make me sad to still be on this planet.
This game has been in Alpha longer than I've been a virgin.
Agree on the DS bosses except for "Bed of Chaos" which was really really horrible. It wasn't even a boss fight really, it was trying to roll/fall onto a slippery trunk whilst being ping-ponged around the room. I probably died about 20 times before I got lucky enough to LAND on the trunk without instantly slipping off and I wouldn't be complaining if each death didn't mean a 5 minute walk in lava to get back to the boss.
But otherwise yeah, almost flawles...
