A golden age in gaming!

It'd be news over here (Australia) if the FBI did a raid - it's pretty unusual - the Kim Dotcom thing was all over the news for days, and he was in NZ. And there's no way the FBI could do a raid without the Australian Authorities - that would be all kind of illegal, and an international incident (imagine if the Australian Police were doing raids in the US!)

Agreed - I'd like it in there, but not at an extra $50/unit. Someone once suggested having a plug-in BC chip that people could pay for - probably too fiddly to work reliably, but that'd be the way to do it.

Not at all - I spend more time gaming on PS3 than elsewhere because of its quality and unique exclusives. On topic, though, Retro is top notch, my fave Ninty dev - I look forward to whatever they're cooking up :).

I don't think Sigma for PS3 is on the PSN though is it? Would have been a big ask for them to mail a copy out to every PS+ subscriber if not.

Hah, easy to blame all these peeps, but at the end of the day, despite making quality games, they didn't sell enough to keep THQ in business. That's an issue with gamers only buying the next CoD or BF, and something no lawyer will fix ;). I also think the reviewing 'industry' didn't treat THQ that well - Red Faction: Armageddon was a solid game, that got hammered in reviews not for what it was, but not for being an open world game. It'd be like me marking down GTA f...

Argh, too many good games - my must-buys are Sly, Ni No Kuni, Bioshock, God of War, Aliens, FUSE, Tomb Raider and Metro. It's a good expected last first quarter to the current generation :).

+1 - good to seem some perspective out there :). Brace yourself for the system "whichever" is doomed when the next Xbox and Playstation launch when they both sell multiple millions in a short period of time, but one is a million or so behind the other and there will have "failed" [rolls eyes].

I'm not sure about that - the Vita has impressed every gamer I know IRL that I've spoken with. Plenty of internet fanboys that don't like it, but very few actual gamers. The vast majority of gaming journalists who have a go at it generally attack the number of games available - I haven't found a credible source that actually doesn't like the hardware (and there are far more games for the Vita than the haters'd have you think).

As for the Wii U, it...

This blog is a dash one-sided. Yes, the Xbox did brilliantly in coming from behind to achieve a huge growth in userbase this generation, but with that came a _lot_ of fanboy blogs that even infected 'professional' gaming journalism, with staff at places like Gamespy questioning whether the PS3 would be 'Dreamcasted', and many questioning whether this generation would knock Sony out of the console game.

So while the 360 made a pretty good comeback, if anyone i...

That'd be the same Sony that spent a couple of billion on EMI and hundreds of millions buying Gaikai, and has ongoing R&D expenditures up the wazoo. I wouldn't worry too much about this rumour - it reads (both grammatically and factually) like it was written by a couple of 10 year olds ;).

It takes time to restructure a complicated conglomerate like Sony, that had got itself more than a little tangled (gamers are lucky the gaming division was kept honest by Microsoft and Ninty, so couldn't drift too far out of line and is still delivering great, cost-effective products). Making fast judgements on long-term restructuring (that does seem to be going well) is not good business sense either ;).

Aye, I'm a big fan of well-made stories in games, and don't mind a good third-person shooter as well.

Those Borderlands 2 DLC deals are sweet :)

@ Wetnoodle - I'm talking about the stores - range of games and prices here. The PSN's streets ahead of XBL on a range of fronts. Buying digital games on the PSN is often a sensible and cost-effective thing to do - buying digital games on XBL that you can get at retail is economic insanity.

Although if you're on PS+ you also don't have to worry about constant patching, and while PSN has had a couple more weeks of it, both XBL and PSN have had significant out...

Hey, there was that Hitman ad with the lasses dressed like nuns and even that was trying to sell sex, lol.

The online marketplace - the flow of resources and the like. For Playstation, the PSN, Music Unlimited, Video unlimited and the like. For Xbox, it's XBLA, Games on Demand, the Xbox Music and Movie stores. Oddly enough, Xbox's stores run two currencies - some are in 'points', some are in local currency. A good start for them would be to have them all in the same damn currency!

X360's online ecosystem is behind Sony's - there are more full games for download on the PSN, usually at cheaper prices. More sales, a greater range of moves on the PSN store, and a good range of online services. You don't have parties and online chat, but at $50/year that's a pretty pricey inclusion. When I recently got my 360 I was planning to go all digital with the games, expecting that it would be similar to what Sony's got on the PSN, and was surprised to see MS (...

It's still worth grabbing a 360 for some of their exclusives - the PS3 is my main console by some margin, followed by PC and Vita, but 360's got a number of quality exclusives. Its online community is nothing special though - they're just gamers like everyone else, just with a higher tolerance with getting screwed over to pay $50 a year for cross-game chat. Cross-game chat and parties are excellent, but they're free on PC and Vita (Vita's still isn't quite as good as...

The PSN store tells you how big the DL is before you buy, so you're safe there (well, unless you don't read the store info). The size of the DL is fairly standard for a full-sized, HD game. You can always buy the retail version if you don't have a hard-drive big enough for downloading full games.
