This was similar when the Xbox One and PS4 launched, if you supported Microsoft, you were torn apart.

Anytime anything is mentioned about X1/Cloud/Live/etc... it turns into an almost instantaneous console war for no reason.
The best way to wrap your heads around cloud vs. dedicated would be to associate cloud w/ "scaling". You essentially control an army of virtual servers, they can scale to meet demand...

I agree. I have no willpower when it comes to Rockstar. My allegiance was fading slowly without the next-gen announcement and I had my doubts about transferring characters over from GTA:Online.

I'd bet that the removal of "Games for Windows" nonsense that plagued GTA IV will help significantly. Although, I am curious if you played IV after the first patch hit - a group of us were playing it maxed out at a solid 50-60 fps while recording using FRAPS and none of us had very impressive GPUs at the time.
years after beating IV on the 360 me and some buddies picked it up for PC. Modded it. And made some hilarious YouTube videos with the editor.
The fact that R* is promoting it this early is fantastic. The editor in IV was buggy, but still very powerful.

You've described the fundamental issue in your comment. I'm not a PC supporter. Nor PS4. Nor X1. If you fall into the console war trap... There's nothing that can be done. It's too late.
I think the issue with specs is where to draw the line. A lot of people are extremely literal and watch every tiny detail... so, to be better than console version it would have to run at 1080p and a constant 60 fps (not even diving into the more advanced gfx options that would take it further than the consoles)... but, perhaps someone would rather run at 1440p and 60 fps, with those heavy AA/MS option switched on, or even 4k, now we're in a whole new layer of hardware required.
