I don't hate the CoD franchise, but I do dislike that every iteration has the same fundamental flaws, which I found irritating to the point that I abandoned the series at MW2. From speaking to friends who still purchase every year, I hear that lag, network reliability, cheating and abusive community are still prevalent.

Not been that bad, longest wait has been 10 minutes to get on a server.
Lag was my biggest complaint about the CoD franchise, if they can kill it I may come back to the fold.

I've been hoping for AC to go to Japan.
To hate CoD is a little OTT. I would say I don't dislike CoD but rather I'm bored of it, and bored of the same faults since CoD4/MW. With the billions of dollars that Activision have accumulated from the franchise and the many years they have spent making it these faults would have gone away. I won't bother listing the faults here because we should all be aware of them by now.

It's such a shame, I have many real friends on my friends list that buy only one game a year, CoD.

Installs are not mandatory on the PS3, it's mostly third party devs that choose to use them. I cannot believe that this is still being used to downplay the console, besides, they are mandatory on PC and nobody seems to have an issue with that.

Let's not forget the many other games that suffer from most or all of these problems.
I would say you could take any shooter and apply these failings, with the exception of the online pass maybe.
