In that 10 year gap, was it the same group of fanboys making those arguments? If so, isn't it the same thing as when some people claimed that the Pro made the right choice by only offering "4k media" through streaming?

Funny thing about fanboys, they have short memories, and new ones are born every day.

But as Vulcan mentions, the benefit beyond having a cheap bluray player for movies was barely felt by gamers. PS3's performance issues...

Even with a disc drive, you'll have to download your games to the HDD. Often, that takes me longer than digital downloads, and takes just as much space.

Discless or not, I suspect we all should expect to be needing more space soon after launch.

#1. Very odd choice there. In addition to the Nomad, the turbo express was also there long before Sony slapped a TV to a PSOne.

#4 They published Jumping Flash, which was a variation of a PC game from its actual creator.

#5. RPG Maker probably stands out to most, then Fighter Maker. Game Maker started a bit later in the late 90s, too.

#8. Wasn't that an aerobics NES game? Mario Paint was the real music game though. Add that to #5,...

Nah. It's all relative to the market size. The UK console market is a 1/4 of the US. They were the top seller in UK by selling 100k. Switch was probably at 99k or something, and then PS at 60k.

All 3 will have sold significantly more in the larger US region. Switch seems to have sold best in the US, but we're probably looking at 4X more systems sold for everybody at least.

Lol, never? How can you say that definitively?

You're telling me that for the time and money spent making CTR, Crash, and Spyro remasters, they couldn't have funded ANYTHING else?

Here's the real kicker. If your blanket assertion was true, then these games would cost $0 to make. If that's the case, screw any company for trying to sell us something that cost them nothing to make.

Is that really your take?

"Virtually nothing" huh?

Show me some budgets. If it's outsourced, that means that they're paying money for someone to remaster a game. If they didn't spend that money on paying that studio for a remastwr, maybe they could pay someone or their own devs to build something new or improve something else.

Because the time, money, and attention would focus on crafting new experiences instead?

I don't mind them. But just like we see in movies and TV, it kind of gets old seeing so many remakes instead of new, original ideas.

Our definition of "support" must be different. Imagine if Sony had invested the same in Vita as it did for VR. Maybe I'd have even more 3rd party indies on it!

No matter how you spin it, VR is niche, and Xbox would be stupid to invest in it in a major way. When they "promoted" VR for X late in 2016, it was still being overhyped as the next big thing. The X marketing dropped that feature about 10 months before the X was even available for sale. Show ...

I was legitimately excited to see that in there. I've been trying to find it on sale, but not much luck.

The idea of a SE annual sports game is always pretty funny.

I wouldn't complain about the push to DD and stubs if only they used the money to bring back online franchises. Those of us who played it really couldn't impact them that much. We'll see if this year is the year, but it's not looking good.

I think it's published by their XGS publishing arm. So 2nd party essentially.

A gaming forum probably isn't the best place to get the other answers you're looking for.

Keighley's VGA call out of Konami is probably the biggest moment in the show's history. People will forget most of these awards, but that moment still gets remembered. I'm sure the irony in that isn't lost on you.

Then there's the fact that Kojima put him in the damn game.

People will attack him and the show for it; but do you honestly not expect it?

Should we really expect that gamers will just say, "oh, wow, ...

Well, DMC5 and Fire Emblem were snubbed imo. Nothing against the nominees, but those two deserved more love. Without getting too deep into the indie space, I think it's easy to also see many other games that "took chances."

But I don't think DS doesn't deserve to be nominated, though. I haven't played it yet, but it seems as though many positive things are being said about it.

There's just no getting around the perception of...

The perception of a conflict is what will hurt the VGAs. It doesn't seem like there is a direct conflict, but a "perceived conflict of interest" should often be avoided in many businesses.

Many outlets wouldn't care, but I don't think it's good for what Geoff has been trying to build. Plus, with RE2 and Smash recieving the critical acclaim that they did, the conversation should rightfully be about why some of the other games deserve it more than th...

Can they? Yes, of course.

If you feel like increasing your blood pressure a bit, take a look at the brandwidth costs vs. pricing. The margins help explain a lot about those wonderful isps of ours...

Will they? Well, we know the answer.
