As a software developer (not in gaming):
PC games devs aren't any lazier than console devs -in fact they have to do some extra coding, such as objects destruction for memory freeing.
The problem with PCs is their main advantage: being an open system.
When you test a PC software, even a game, you have the following issues:
-Is it Windows or multi-OS? If the second, libraries compatibility, etc..
-Luck of "proper" testing u...
A key would be great! Thanks a lot! :)
I am halfway through the campaign and I have to say I am impressed! Not as good as Warcraft III/Frozen throne campaigns, but much better than most RTS games campaigns... reminds me "old-school" RTS games ^^
The multiplayer is solid as well, but the 3-4 extra units per functions isn't much of an upgrade... However the community (Starcraft Universe I am looking at you -an MMO-like Starcraft "mod") looks like they will give awesome new features and direc...
@Mocat
My comment is a reply to another person who called this journalism... :)
Actually you can't even call this "journalism"... Journalism is "objective" and comes from facts and events, not personal experiences and opinions.
Has Gaming-enthusiast.net tried too hard to get hits in the past? Yes. Is it still trying? Yes.
Has Gaming-enthusiast.net pointlessly capitalised every first letter of every word? Yes.
See how easy it is? ^^
PS: Get a .com domain...it isn't that much more expensive. .net domains supposed to be used by ISPs and networking companies, not lazy journalists.
Finally gets it!
The company I work plans ordering 10 of them for a pilot run. I guess other software companies will follow. It is an interesting computer for the size and functionality.
As a gaming machine is a no-go however... price/ performance. I doubt Steambox will future the same hardware, maybe the design idea, but different hardware and pricetag...
AMD is well-known embedded systems manufacture, with APUs in development for years. nVidia only recently started with "Tegra"... Moreover nVidia believes in GP-GPU computing, thus while Sony could "keep" the x86 architecture, the algorithms would be different -parallel programming. This would make PS4 a PS3-Cell situation with developers need more time to develop/ port. With AMD Sony ensured both a CPU and GPU are present for both linear and parallel processing, depending ...
Call of Duty... ok joking! xD
Theme Hospital and if they count: true sequels to KOTORII, Red Alert 2 and Warcraft 3, instead of TOR, the abomination called Red Alert 3 and WoW -good game, just not the same ;-).
Rumoursception! *Plays background music* Let's make a rumour, inside a rumour, inside a rumour... F*CK LOGIC! This reminds me South Park Inception episode xD
Back to the article: Companies sign an agreement. Even users in closed betas agreed to NDAs...
Thanks! :-)
I am in my 20s. I gradated high school, went to the army for two years (it was mandatory) and I left the gaming world for a while. After the army I went to Uni and found the industry like this... declining at an accelerating rate. Now (as said above) started recently working as a software developer.
I was saying back then we should stop thinking with brands in our head and try to discourage developers milking franchises. Now these effects are pre...
Had some bugs and annoying levels, but was fun! Especially on 2 players Co-op.
Plus lots of stuff to do if you are a completist...
@Cueil
Where did I say MS won't do well or anythign similar? :P
They don't have to for the CPU, but they need fast GDDR for the GPU... A PS4 is a "PC", but without some bottlenecks PCs got due to the share memory and a not-so upgradable design.
I wrote down a long article here: http://n4g.com/blogs/detail... outlining the differences... (sorry for the link, but I prefer it over copying-pasting)
@shutUpAndTakeMyMoney
Some people are taking things to serious when it comes to their favourite brand...
EDIT:
Thanks for the link! :-)
Batman: AC was a great game! ;-) Definitely recommend it!
@GalacticEmpire
I doubt it will be April, but I wouldn't be surprised for near-to E3 announcement and release September/October if they will try to beat PS4's release...
Balmer (current CEO of MS) said they got a new strategy in terms of product announcement in an interview. Instead of announcing products in advance, they will try to adopt a more Apple-like approach. Announcing things and then releasing them asap....
I can't remember where I read it however.
In any case time will tell! :-)
Wow! And without want to sound like an ass, but I found this quote fitting: "He tried to finger a girl once... she died..."
