It always amuses me when people argue about hypothetical future situations. It amuses me almost as much as when people argue about the news of yesteryear. Why don't people like arguing about things that are happening right now?
Technically the membership fee is for the membership, which technically allows access to more than just the discounts and games (ie. Automatic Updates). Conceptually the games are not free, but technically they are. Isn't technicality fun?

It is not a "short" 1 year warranty. It is a "standard" 1 year warranty. It is the same warranty that you get on the Xbox 360 for anything except RROD/E74. Before Microsoft went to court over the RROD issue, even that was only covered for 1 year.

The devices menu states that I have reached the maximum number of PS3 systems, but I have only activated one system. That would make sense if it is only considering the video content activation. I had my account activated on my wife's PS3 just a couple of weeks ago, but have since deactivated my account on her system.
Other than her system for a brief period of time, my system is the only one that I have ever had my account activated on.

I don't believe that is accurate. I remember that there was a great deal of confusion about the issue, but it was later clarified that there was still a 5 seat license.

The PSP is a portable device with limited reason to access an online service. The PS3 is a home device that is more dependent on online services. It will be easy for Sony to just block PSN access unless newer firmware is installed. It will also be easy for Sony to put newer firmware on new game discs.
If Sony modifies the boot sequence I don't see how the hackers are going to get around it. If the PS3 no longer boots to the USB device, then it won't be running any co...
You really think your scenario is more likely than mine? They both live in Queensbury, New York. They both live in the same city and one of them knows where the other lives. I would say it is very likely that they know each other in real life. Considering that it is very likely that they know each other in real life, and considering the very violent nature of this incident, I also surmise that it is very likely that they have issues outside of videogames.

I had originally only considered purchasing 2 wands and a navigation controller, but now I think I might get a couple of backup wands and an extra navigation controller. I will not really have a use for them because I don't really have anyone over for local multiplayer, but I know that me getting extra Move devices will personally offend Omega4, and that is totally worth it to me.

I bet they could get away with $100. People would justify it as "only around 27 cents per day". They could further justify it as "just over a penny per hour". They would probably compare it to the cost of coin operated arcade machines.
