Agree
They can announce it today or at E3 for a lot of people it doesn't even matter.
I'm not going to buy it as long as Live has a fee for basic services like the web browser playing games online and apps like Netflix and I know a lot of people feel the same way.
Always online blocking used games, they don't even matter. I wasn't going to buy it even before those rumors came out.
If you bought your Xbox on day one and have paid 5$ ...
Enjoy not having the option to play used games on your DRM box.
It's not about always on, people are missing the point entirely. Always on is a DRM.
The always on function is to authenticate games to keep you from playing used games.
That's the only reason always online is needed.
I'd buy it.
I'm only buying it if I can blow off ET's glowing finger while he tries to phone home.
I used to dislike Pachter but over time he's grown on me.
When he first came on the scene it was obvious he was a hack who didn't know what he was talking about and as such everything he said was totally off the wall and obviously inaccurate.
But these days he seems to be in somewhat touch in with the actual issues. I still can't believe he gets paid to do whatever he does but all the power to him I guess.
I think there is a lot of pressure from PC these days. Anyone can make a game on PC and not have to pay any fees depending on what tool set they use.
Even a lot of the larger tool sets are free if you aren't expecting to make more than a certain amount of profit. And you can always make your own.
And with Steam Greenlight where you basically only have to pay 100$ to list and then publish on Steam or even Desura it's not surprising the consoles would ...
One of the big problems with "gamers" and standing up to EA is an age thing.
A lot of gamers are under 18 and have there parents buy there games and they have no sense of the value of money. I know when my parents bought my games I didn't care at all the value I was getting.
And it's also conditioning, for a lot of gamers this may have been there first generation and they don't have the memories to tell them micro transactions are a rip...
That's not what I said at all.
I said the whole always online fiasco wasn't a marketing strategy. I then used examples to show how Microsoft advertising department had not brought success in many instances.
I'm sorry you were confused.
So what do you have to say about Vista, Windows 8, the first Xbox, Zune, Windows Phone and Windows Tablet?
Products which they spent billions in advertising on but failed?
Whats your point? Did you understand what I was saying? Because all I am saying is it's crazy to think this is some kind of marketing strategy.
Also in the end Xbox sold the least of the three consoles last gen.
No, just no.
Microsoft is not as clever as people seem to think. None of this is some reverse marketing pissing people off only so they can change at that last minute. That is crazy it's like a conspiracy theory.
The truth is Microsoft fails all the time and there marketing does NOT sell products for them.
The only thing Microsoft sells successfully is Windows and Office. And both of those products only sell because they have become the...
Yeah, this pretty much sums up exactly how I felt after reading what EA said.
I personally haven't bought an EA game since Dragon Age Origins. It was a protest to Online Pass and shutting down servers.
If everyone would just grow some balls and learn a little self restraint we could change EA.
But instead even in the replies to this post I see people saying I hate you EA but i'm still buying Battlefield 4 and that is why EA keeps doin...
Well i'll take a look at it. I don't know much about the game but I respect them for rejecting the nickle and dime approach that has infected the gaming space.
Remember Fords campaign for the Focus in the 90's? The one where they just showed 30 seconds of the most brutal Ford car crashes with red text across the screen that said "Fatality!"?
No, me neither.
No
So I read the article and basically all he does is defend what they have done. No were going to change, no were sorry people are unhappy.
I laughed when he thought the reason people voted for EA as worst company was the ending of Mass Effect. I got news for you EA. I stopped buying your products when you started the online pass, and started closing down servers only a year old to force people to buy your newest versions of games.
And as far as Mass Effec...
Ya know, I almost thought MS would read all the feedback and change there tune before the announcement.
But no, it's going to be like Windows 8 where the number one request in the beta was bring back the start button and normal Windows functionality and they didn't listen.
Microsoft refuses to give the consumer what it wants instead trying to ram what it wants you to have down your throat. (or up your rear)
Well we can all hope 720 ...
