It's nothing like Steam. Steam (pc) is infinitely backwards compatible. Microsoft will never guarantee that all future boxes will play all games released. And even if they did I wouldn't believe them enough to take that risk.
=)
Those aren't laws.
The companies chose to do that, if GameStop decided to stop doing age verification there is nothing legally you could do about it.
Even the rating system itself isn't mandatory.
And really none of that is what I would consider "consumer protection".
I'd like to also add that California lost it's case in the supreme court to try to add legal repercussions to stores which didn't...
I don't belive anything EA (or Microsoft) says.
But I could see it going something like this.
"Guys for online pass to work we gotta pay two extra people $8.00 per hour to replace non-working codes." "Plus half the people calling are buying used copies and then calling us anyways."
"We can just fire those two guys save 16$ per hour then just cut more content and sell it for 20$ on top of the cost of the game then ...
There is basically zero chance this or pretty much any consumer protection bill would ever be able to pass in the US, Republicans would block it so hard.
I'm pretty sure your going to get $0.00 from me.
I would love a traditional FF game. White Mage Black Mage Fighter Thief game. Also a return to Ivalice would be awesome.
They were professional enough. But no one wants MS's product it's as simple as that.
There is nothing Microsoft could have said differently that would have changed my mind.
You'll have to prove it to me.
I noticed earlier the PS4 version of COD is outselling the Xbox version on Amazon buy a lot it looks like. So even though they play online they seem to care about DRM as much as everyone else.
I mean surely they can spare 5% of the consoles just to be able to say they had a launch in Japan.
I know Sony is an international cooperation. But they are Japanese at heart.
I understand the reasoning but I think they should at least put some consoles on the shelves even if it's a limited launch. If they do have to hold back I hope they give Japan a special launch model with a special color or logo.
I'd hate to have to be the guy to tell the Japanese fans "no PS4 till 2014".
Using the web browser or shopping on the PlayStation store.
Also a friend pointed out you could use it for a game like Okami where you had to make brush strokes.
I'm sure it'll find a lot of uses.
Yolo!!!
Anyways the free games with gold according to the fine print is only 360 games and it only lasts till the next console is released.
From the Xbox webpage:
Games with Gold free games offer available 6/10/13-12/31/13 for qualifying paid Gold members only. Xbox 360 games (selected by Xbox) available for free download from Marketplace only during specified half-month window; available games may vary by country. Some titles may only be availa...
That's interesting information. Thanks for sharing
I like that gif. =)
"This is a big change, consumers don't always love change, and there's a lot of education we have to provide to make sure that people understand."
Micrsoft: "Customers are stupid!"
No, MS we understand completely. That's why PS4 is totally dominating the picture.
I'm almost done kicking Microsoft while there down.
But I'd like to also add you'll be needing a new headset (not included) since your old one won't work with the new proprietary ports. And as far as I can tell (I did check) it doesn't support Bluetooth.
I don't think they need to.
Motion controls are a niche and that's why the camera is optional. But if you happen to like motion controls it's there for you as an option.
Some people like Call of Duty, other people like Dance Central.
Well I'm glad that DRM is going to be used to lower the cost of digital games. /s
