"The Epitome of a rushed game" I know right, and it only took over decade to make. :)
Actually, djhsecondnature is right. A review is/should be an intelligent examination of all important aspects of a game.(and wether or not those aspects make up a quality experience).
Not just someone's opinion.
@TigerFest
Some of your criticisms are valid, others not so much.
As far as the western thing goes, what were they supposed to do. People didn't like the linearity of the original (and rightfully so). And every time you look up, another western RPG is being praised by gamers and critics alike. They went that route because they sort of had to. (That seems to be what consumers want from their RPGs.)
As far as switching characters goes, ag...
@Rabid
Exactly. FFXIII-2 seems to be the game that people WANT to be bad. To the point where they choose to ignore the improvements just so they have something to complain about.
You wanted towns, got it.
A male lead, got it.
less linerarity, got that too.
darker story, yes even that.
Side quests, moogles, npc interaction, etc. It's all there. There's not much left to complain about. ...
Well, I don't think he means self sufficient as in upgrading it's self, I think he means that there will be a point when technology has hit it's limits (not needing to be upgraded anymore.)
It makes sense, because everything has a peak/ending. (Though I doubt we'll reach that peak as early as next gen.)
Well this pretty much confirms what everyone suspected. Which is unfortunate. But I'm still kind of excited to play the (hopefully) better half.
So they should cancel two whole other projects just because you didn't like one (loosely related) game? And how exactly has the whole project failed when only one of the four games has been released? Especially when said game sold 5 million copies and got mostly 8's and such.
I swear, people have convinced themselves that FFXIII did a lot worse than it actually did.
The changes aren't dramatic, but by the end of the game it really will feel abit different from the first.
@jdoki
Hmmm, well I guess I was referring more to mass marketability, rather than marketability.(I should have made that clearer.) I definitely think the controller has great potential, but to me it doesn't have anything to grab the casuals again.(as they can be pretty fickle).
I did forget about the Apple effect though. So maybe casuals will pick it up.(who knows at this point?) Either way I agree that this will definitely be a interesting test for Ninte...
@Jdoki
The only reason casuals might not upgrade is because the Wii U just isn't as marketable as the wii was. I mean, the Wii did something that most people thought they'd only see in science fiction movies, motion control. The Wii U's gimmick isn't nearly as compelling. (And even Ninty seem to have trouble truly explaining it.)
The Wii was a pop culture hit aswell (becoming the item everyone had to own so they could feel hip or trendy). Whil...
I think I get what White_Lightning is trying to to say. Imagine if Sony's next console was called the "PS3+" (instead of "PS4"). Now if you didn't know the specs, would you assume that was a Next-gen console? Or a updated PS3 model. In that sense, names do define the next gen.
Think about it, when Sony updated the PSP they always kept "psp" in the name. (psp 3000, PSPGo). But now that they are releasing a NEXT-GEN device, suddenly they d...
FFXIII took like 5 years...
@danswayuk
You're forgetting (or ignoring ) the fact that the Wii launched at about half the price of the other two consoles. And the fact that it became the "in" thing to buy. Aswell as the marketability of that little italian plumber.
The Wii's success had little to do with gameplay.
@Blaze
Actually CryofSilence is right. I mean, if we go by your logic, wouldn't every one of Edge's reviewers have their own review of Infamous 2 published?
The reason they have one is because the review represents Edge's official view of the game.
It's the same with any other company that has ever existed. The person who engineered the PS3 is not the same person who engineered the Sony Ericcson. Yet they both are Sony product...
@Focker
What do you mean? Vanille doesn't use levithan, she uses Hecantoirs (how ever you spell it.)
@Ultimate_Guy
I guess, but I'm still skeptical about Versus XIII. I mean, it's been years and it's still exclusive, despite it's sister-project going multi.
I get the feeling that if the game were going multi-plat(or atleast launching multi-plat), it would have been announced already.
As for them not showing the game that much, well I think I remember Nomura saying that it may or may not make E3, but that we wouldn't see ...
@BabyTownFrolics
Oh grow up will you? No one bashed Microsoft (your fanboyism is making you paranoid lol). People are allowed to voice their opinion, because not everyone worships their console.(or the company that created it.)
fanatics, sheesh.
@NYC_Gamer
At least you didn't get all defensive, but I still don't really understand the point you're trying to make. If Microsoft relies solely on third parties then w...
My only concern with consoles becoming multimedia devices is that Gaming(what the consoles were originally intended for) could get pushed into the background because of it.
I get the feeling that this is most people's concern. Because you have to admit, Microsoft seem to be getting less and less interested in the video game industry.(Especially the hardcore side of the industry.)
@WombBat
-That's just your opinion
-Again, that's just your opinion
-Not sure what that has to do with anything
-This is a valid criticism
-Fair enough
And how exactly do you know what they have and have not fixed?
@zeal0us
I don't know if you did this on purpose, but you left out one of the most iconic ninja/characters in the franchise. (actually, you left out two, but one of them isn't elemental.)
