That's ridiculous.
For the record, yes Uncharted was obviously inspired by tomb raider. But Uncharted took a very different approach. (honestly, the similarities pretty much end at "treasure hunter".)
The classic Tomb Raider games weren't nearly as cinematic as Uncharted. And likewise, Uncharted isn't nearly as open as the original Tomb Raiders.
This lastest version though, takes direct inspiration from Uncharted's ...
@Spam...
And yet here you are talking about Uncharted instead of Tomb Raider. Yeah, super irrelevant...
I also love how you assume it's the "same quality" as UC from just seeing a simple trailer.(LOL!)
And... screw it, I'm not gonna waste too much energy on obvious troll.
100% Agree
I think that's why I never liked the whole "everyone deserves to experience this" bullsh!t.
A textbook case of entitlement.
People not only want everything handed to them, they actually think they DESERVE it. It's pretty sad.
Lololololololol!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dude sounds dumb as hell, I guess any idiot can write for a website these days.
Why on Earth would Sony(or any other console maker)release their game on a rival platform?
That makes absolutely zero business sense.(And goes completely against the concept of 1st party devs.)
Does the author even realize what he's saying?
@Efiiel
better gameplay(more powers, slighty improved controls.)
More misson types.
Bigger, more varied environments.
better morality system.
Better graphics.
Added online(a pretty creative one too.)
Just a couple off the top of my head.(There could be more.)
I'm not sure why you're so skeptical. It's not uncommon for a sequel to be better than the fir...
To Be fair, This might just mean that the game won't be on the show floor.
It might still be at a press conference or something. But I won't hold my breath.
I gotta say though, the timing of this article (after yesterday's "just be patient" article.) is kinda hilarious.
@Kuro
How do you figure?
From what I've noticed, games tend to come out a couple months after their big E3 showing. So if Versus really doesn't show up at this E3, that could mean it'll be even further down the line.
Edit: Just to be clear, when I say "a couple months", I basically mean anywhere from 3-10 months or so.
@bigpappy
And what exactly are his valid points here?
That HE thinks GTAIV and UC3 are overated... in his opinion?
How are those valid points on any subject?
oh god, this company STILL does not get it. It's not the wait, it's the lack of communication.
We still don't know why it's taking so long to show anything new, or the next time we can expect to see it.
And why can't anyone just ask him direct questions?
I really wish someone would just ask him, "So, is Versus going to be at E3 or what?" Or better yet, "Will Versus be released this year or not?"
...
Well, I wouldn't go as far as to say there's no info on the game, but the way it's spread out is HORRIBLE.
Think about it, the last time we saw anything substantial about the game was like, last January.(AKA over a year ago.) That's just... ridiculous, for real.
And to make matters worst, Square can't even provide info on when we'll next see the game. And that's the real problem people have with Versus. It's not so much the wa...
@antz
Work on your reading skills. I never lumped used games into any group with piracy. I simple said that both cost the devs money. Is that not true? Of course it is. So How am I the one that needs a clue? (If anything, you need a clue on reading comprehension.)
And as if you can talk about sidestepping. You totally avoided my point so you could go on some tangent about the initial $60 bucks. Ignoring the money lost from the resell of that product.
...
I think they meant that they'd support the PS3 for ten years(even after a new console comes out.) The way they did with the PS2.
The "Microsoft doesn't" thing is referring to how easily MS abandoned the original Xbox after the 360 was released. Something people assume they'll do with the 360 once a new console comes out.
It wasn't PR talk, they were saying that they'll still incorporate the PS3 into their business strategy even ...
@antz
Even if the whole retailer thing is true..., that doesn't change anything. Think about it: If there was no used game market, everyone would have to buy a new copy of the game. Which means that retailers would have to order MORE copies. So the devs have still lost money.
Next, It's widely known that devs don't make a cent off used games. So let's do some math shall we.
If one person buys the game new and returns it, and a...
@Megaman
Facepalm.
You're the one not making sense buddy. As you missed every single one of my points.
Firstly, the legality of selling used games wasn't the point of the analogy, at all. The point was that: It's not okay for devs to lose money just because they make a certain amount every year.(you might have gotten that if you weren't so busy worrying about semantics.)
I guess a better analogy would be : It&...
@Godmars
I almost see where you're coming from, but some of those counters are a direct result of the used game market(aswell as piracy, which really isn't even that different.)
DRM for example, would it exist if not for pirates and such?
If anything, DLC and DRM are reasons you should be against used game sales.(As they show the damage that the used game market has done to the industry.)
@Both of you
Please.
This has nothing to do with the money they supposedly make every year. (That's like saying it was okay to rob a bank because you left a couple million.)
This is about getting what is rightfully yours. I mean, why the hell should Gamestop get the bulk of the money made from a product they had no hand in creating? Especially when that money was supposed to go to the devs/publishers who actually did spend years creating ...
@pshycoNinja
Why are you comparing the ending (or even the game itself) to the effin Mona Lisa?
what the hell is so artistic about Mass Effect 3's ending? It doesn't even make sense.
And that's really all people are asking for, an ending that doesn't make them go "WTF?".
Is that really so horrible?
Exactly. I've never understood why the game industry is so "either or".
This reminds me of all the articles that pit graphics vs. gameplay, as if you can't have both.
Firstly, calm down. (you care way too much about this.)
Secondly, could you specifically point out where I said that feeling japanese was bad? What I said was: The reason they are so successful, Is because their games appeal to a global market.
And keep in mind, we're talking financials only.
I like Japanese games. (My profile pic is the "shot-gun guy" from Versus XIII.)
But I'm not so biased to them that I ...
The only thing that makes me doubt this(besides having never heard of Game Master Magazine.) is that they listed the Metal Gear game as : Metal Gear SOLID Revengeance.
Isn't the game called Metal Gear "Rising" : Revengeance?
