MW3 shouldn't be on any HARDCORE fps list, since it abandoned their hardcore fanbase since MW2...
Why? Only one reason: you can't cope with it.
You essentialy say you want a dumbed down game.
That's fine, but there are plenty of other shooters that have the gameplay style you want.
I myself found it really fun, the situation "oh shit it breaks" - running for cover - "phew I did it, now take another gun".
Totally depends on the person fortunately.
I only bought the game month ago in a Steam sale, and it's my most played Steam game to date.
I love the concept, environments, challenges, AI.
If you don't like it, play another shooter, you got tons to choose from.
But let the devs decide what they find best .
Otherwise it's yet another franchise gone casual: e.g. Crysis 1 [epic] -> Crysis 2 [garbage]

It's due to you guys that all games get easier and easier. Pleasing the casual crowd like you and leaving the hardcore shooter fans unhappy.
I miss the times where games were challenging. Far Cry 2 was an excellent game and one of the most challenging you can find nowadays. What more do you want?
And how do you know they were shooting with shotguns? The AI was hard, but fun. Just cope with it, like you would in real life. That means...

True, Xbox 360 development looks a lot more like PC development than PS3 development, but still it aint't easy I think.
Or they could go the Onlive way: streaming the Xbox360 games to your PC, but they would probably need to mess with patents.
Or they could use emulating, but thats also impossible because emulated games always run a lot slower of course.

Three factors that together make me INSANE:
- Due to school not having the time to play a lot of games, and as such somewhat way behind, and seeing your wish list grow.
- Recently discovering you don't need a credit card for Steam but can easily use PC banking, so finally being able to enter the fairy tale of cheap games!
- Having summer vacation atm.

COD BO was the exact same situation: raging as hell, and still afterwards buying and being disappointed of course "oh noes, this is really my last cod!!1!!1!1".
My last cod was MW2, I changed to BFBC2 and never went back.

Recoil IS important!
I always want a game where you need to get used to each weapon. Understand the handling, understand the recoil and master it! :)
CoD on the contrary: every damn child can pick up a weapon and be instantly a pro...

But DICE, pls release a 2GB MP4 video of 1080p footage of a 64 players Conquest match on any Multiplayer map!
Although I will buy BF3 for PC, I don't think the console version will look bad.
It will at least be on the level of BFBC2, and that is already a lot better than the COD graphics ;)
Also, they use a new streaming technique in the Frostbite 2 engine, so they aren't as memory limited as with BFBC2 so things can only get better!

It's the most played FPS franchise on earth at the moment, but still:
- outdated game engine.
- no dedicated servers.
Anyone who buys this game, should really consider this "Do I really want to give 60 euros to a developer who doesn't care about these 2 points and as such I will keep encouraging them to do so?"

A friend of mine is a huge CODMW2 gamer on PC. I got him into buying BFBC2 for PC since I play that game.
His response was "your bullets don't hit".
Shooting in bursts seems too difficult for some people *sigh*.
edit: Oh yeah, and he didn't like the "leveling system".
Since when does a FPS need to have a fast COD style leveling system to be addictive??
Go play an MMORPG ...

All in all, a more realistic game. But that isn't difficult if you compare it to COD, which has become a real arcade game.
If loved COD, and COD MW2 I bought day 1 but I got bored of the arcadeness. Now I truly understand why all kids play this.
If you want the real deal (but not perfectly realistic), try BF3!

If most of these issues are still in the beta, then you can complain as much as you want.
