Don't know why you got the disagree, you are exactly right. HD-DVDs were 15GB single layered. At the time of release, the SMALLEST High Definition movies clocked in over 16GB or so, showing HD-DVD to have the same weaknesses DVD had when trying to carry content... which was the need to have Dual Layered discs from inception. You start adding a lot of extra features, etc., then you have even more of a problem.

This simple tech reason was enough for me personally to pick...

If everyone remembers, HD-DVD was released months before any Bluray devices. HD-DVD's flaw came out only later when it could not fit HD Audio on the Transformers movie. So it should've been well underway and making it to living rooms first and solidifying the HD market.

Bubs up, he almost had a heart attack after that demonstration. It is probably the most work he had done in years. See that freakin' sweat?! Too outta shape.

For Microsoft to follow since they'd have to pay Sony (and others) to use the tech. Microsoft shoulda partnered with the Bluray Association when they had the chance, and this problem wouldn't even exist.

It was Toshiba and Microsoft vs. Sony and The World in the format war, another horrendous investment and business decision for Microsoft during that time.

To have your console break. I've been through it, don't wish it on anyone else.

Really? Multiplayer is always riddled with skill-less cheaters who need that extra advantage.

The next gen Halo as arrived. You could not tell with the scores alone, since Halo3 and ODST scored in the same neighborhood. ODST got a 9.0 for Christ's sake... and Halo 3 got a 9.5 ALSO. So according to IGN, Halo 3 is = to Halo Reach. Now we ALL know better than that. The truth is, Reach probably deserves a 9.5 while ODST deserved a 8.5, and Halo 3 deserved a 9.0 at best.

This is the problem with reviews, you can no longer use them as a barometer on how a game actu...

That is like a team complaining that the referee is on their side, calling the game in their favor. We've all seen it, but seem to look the other way when it is "our" team that is getting the good calls. Why should 360 fans bytch about scores when 360 exclusive games tend to rate higher when they may not even deserve it. But it is not just 360 games, it is "popular" games. Look @ GTA4 and try to explain away all the perfect 10s and 9.5s and up that game scored. No...

expecting a BAD score for Reach? Really? I mean come on, the first 360 installments were lesser games and they got glowing reviews... why should anyone expect Reach to get any less? It is stupid. The game looks great compared to previous installments.

Heavenly Swords character models, especially in motion are hard to beat. HS had a Hollywood level production level. They shoulda made a movie off this game. Enslaved looks good, but what most people are seeing and don't realize is a brighter and more vivid color palette... it kinda resembles the color palette of Fable games to me. But Heavenly Sword's character models, beautiful animation, and the fact that it is 3 years old is a phenomenal testimony in its favor. People hated on...

The version of Kinect that folks (including myself) were somewhat excited about was advertised as having its own metal. I know it is good business sense to cut costs, but not to the point of disabling the device as advertised (IMO). I hope that MS realizes that Kinect needs the best chances possible by not relying on the 360's processor and having its own. Hopefully they will listen to developers, if they are making the case for this... just like the makers of Gears were responsible fo...

Microsoft removing Kinect's processor isn't something that was "cut" either.

How about looking at that list and asking Microsoft the tough questions of what they SHOULD have included if it is not standard. You can take everything else off the list if you like for argument sake, but HARD DRIVES, come on! Even every XBOX had a hdd! Hows that for a "pulled" feature?

Imagine if Sony Pulled the optical (Bluray) drive from the PS3, and sold it as an add-on. Oh wait, Microsoft tried that with HD-DVD, oh well, nevermind.

Which takes us back to the original problem of Microsoft removing the processor from the Kinect device itself. Kinect went from the oh-so-close-to-Minority Report awesome motion controlling device in games to a cheap Datel-like USB peripheral. But bots will still buy it like the 2nd coming, at least their mothers will.

They missed the boat in joining the Bluray team. Microsoft had a chance to PARTNER with Bluray, and let the MPEG4 codec be their "contribution" to the technology. Instead, like morons, they SOLD the rights to use it for a pretty penny. So now all those techs rebundled as Bluray would be re-sold to Microsoft (at a premium price of course). On TOP of that, Sony stands to make royalties off every future XBox sell, every XBox game sold, and every Bluray movie sold to be played on a ...

The problem with this theory related to Microsoft is their horrible pricing for HDDs. If they would offer customers the price break they deserved on massive bulk purchases on HDDs all would work out fine. But greed is @ the forefront of MS pricing, so I would be very shocked if the next gen XBox came with 4TB drives. SSD still costs too much, hell, I would even favor a 20GB SSD for the OS and a separate 2TB drive to handle game installs. But, then again, you have all the complainers bitin...

Good job on each system translation graphics-wise, each version's differences could probably be adjusted out with your local HDTV settings. Now lets just hope they both play well, and have as little screen tearing as possible, good controls, etc.
