Hopefully, they got the hardware right this time around, even though the disc scratching is alive and well.
Sony listens.
They know what we've been asking for! Shadow of C in H3D? Maybe? Who knows, but this is GREAT news.
People jogged around with old CD players all the time, I can move my laptop around all the time while playing an audio disc, no scratches. The design to disallow disc scratching during movement has been around for well over a decade... there is simply no excuse anymore. Or has everyone conveniently forgotten all of this in the name of all that is Microsoft?
People please use your brains and stop supporting poor design in any product. Imagine if your car's CD/DVD player...
You can't prepare for the future by only thinking about today. Technology has to progress for innovation sake. Companies have to look beyond what people have already for technology to progress. Someone has to release the tech someday/somehow. If you have obsolete/cost concerns, you can always wait until you're the last person on the block to have a 3DTV. The same was true for HDTVs @ one point, not that long ago.
I myself am somewhat skipping out of the 3DTV craz...
Now users get to Beta test the 360 all over again for $299. By the way, since when does a "Slim" version of a console wind up costing MORE? Thanks again MS, you bums. All they needed to do was use 2 cent rubber bumpers to prevent disc contact with harmful surfaces during accidental or intentional movements. How do you redesign a console completely, but do not resolve or address painful issues that the first design had?
Answer: Disc scratching is considered a FE...
Say it ain't so. There is no way to justify it, but I would rather have concrete proof that this is true before carrying on a tirade. But, I guess it is true that you can buy a 360 harddrive for the price of a console too... so the trend supports the typical overpricing BS that Microsoft hands its customers on a daily basis. And you know what, XBox fans like it, hell, they even SUPPORT it. I expect Microsoft to do this sorta thing until its user base quits and says "no more"...
I was a mouse click away from buying RDR from walmart.com (free $20 e-gift card bonus) - then I remembered the burn of GTAIV. I resisted the urge, and THANK GOD I did. Even though RDR is ok, I chose the right option FOR ME, because the game is no where near a 9.5 or 9.0 for me. It is about an 8.0 for me. The campaign has much boredom IMO, even though I like skinning animals, etc., it is just not enough for me personally.
I wished R* woulda made this more like a Young Gu...
It was fine then, and it is fine now. It is sufficient to get the job done on consoles. People need to stop wifi bashing since there are plenty of us who use this method daily to game online without any hiccups. Most bottlenecks occur @ the service provider versus user's home network equipment, especially nowadays in the USA.
Many places outside the US have service providers who offer a faster service by default for the same or cheaper.
But even as...
It does speak volumes when a region's MAJOR retailers (equivalent to the Best Buy of USA, etc.) REFUSE to carry your product because it is shoddy. When the RETAILER won't even buy the console to sell to people (For freaking profit - mind you), a South African citizen would almost have to classify via their government as a Class 3 Fool to purchase a 360 at that point. For instance, imagine a Bluray or DVD player that Best Buy refused to sell here due to bad quality issues, as a consu...
Fans are also doing themselves (and Microsoft) a disservice by supporting garbage hardware. Instead of complaining, most 360 fans have been holding the console in high regards ignoring the well documented and proven problems this console has.
Even people on their 5th or more console support the 360. And biggame901 mentions the basklash, well, it hasn't been enough if you ask me. There is NO WAY Sony coulda got away with such a shoddy build. The media and the consume...
I love games, I do... and I have played many greats. KZ2, UC1 & UC2, Ratchet and Clank, ME2, Dead Space, Demons Souls, the list goes on and on... but no single game has had more playtime in my current collection than LBP. My kids play it infinitely, so much that I almost need to buy a second copy if I want to play it myself. LBP2 is a day 1 purchase, no questions asked.
Used to get the same thing from jacking off too much. How is this a disease again?
Since Sony lost the right to classify the PS3 as a "Computer" in court, I don't see where this complaint has legs. Since it's sole marketing purpose determined BY THE COURT was that it is a gaming console. I don't see how you can turn around and sue Sony for the PS3 not having PC-like functions.
If Sony won the past case, then I can see the lawsuit having some weight.
I believe all of this legal jargon is covered under the End User Agree...
Well I may know a little something about that. Any government contract discourages the use of off the shelf material for government sole and long-term solutions without exclusive support from the proposed vendor.
Basically, if the Government wants, they can work up an exclusive contract with Sony to have them write a XMB light OS with Linux, and Sony can provide government support through a VERY lucrative contract. Right now, the government has access to PS3 Supercomputer...

Since it's sole marketing purpose determined BY THE COURT was that it is a gaming console. I don't see how you can turn around and sue Sony for the PS3(or a chain of PS3s) not being a Supercomputer.
If Sony won the past case, then I can see the lawsuit having some weight. But Sony could also release a developer build for the PS3 and STR...
Halo has MasterChief, it allows players to connect with his plight as they control him through the struggle. Just like Uncharted has Nathan Drake, Gears has Marcus, Dom, etc. Zelda has Link, the list goes on and on. Crysis has NOBODY. There is just a dude in a cool suit with predator cloaking tech and weapons. But there is nothing to connect someone to emotionally. You don't get to KNOW your character through level development like those other games. Even Killzone has a slight char...
Which generally requires me to rent first. Oh well, at least it is still better than the Iron Man 2 game, I guess... ** crickets ** Dammit, just when I was looking forward to a good spooker game.
@palaeomerus -Yes, even Bulls have to shyt.
@00 - I agree, but people are upset over BOTH facts that Bungie is now actually DOING multiplat games, AS WELL as signing on with Activision. I agree that the Activision news is probably worse, but do not be disillusioned or lied to by people that CLAIM they do not care, because they do. Many people who say, "Now 360 fans feel the sting of the Final Fantasy betrayal", etc. This is about the closest analogy I've seen so fa...
Bungie's independence from Microsoft has been known for quite some time. But for it to actually come into fruition is a day of reckoning most 360 fanboys find hard to accept. Along with the supposed news of Reach being the last Halo game they make, Microsoft will have someone else working on the IP. I guess that ain't so bad considering the facelift Halo needed over all these years is just now about to be released.
Bungie making multiplat games are like every 360 fan's dream...
Don't you guys know that a
100% maxed out processor + 100% maxed out RAM + 100% maxed out video card = system crash/lock/or freeze
But there are ways to develop more efficient engines that can produce better results while using the same amount of system resources as a previous title. This would mainly have to do with developer skill + effcient engine/code, not so much the hardware itself.
Of course games look better progressively, ...
