Its not the proper criticism against rhe game that is the issue, because Bethesda are screwing up hard right now, and are trying to make out like bandits. However, their were alot of people crucifying the game before the lawsuits. It takes two to tango.
Dated looking? The artistic direction of every game does not need to be photorealistic. I think the game looks pretty good for what it is when it is working correctly. And I have played all the big AAA games. Also, you may want to do research on engines.
Yes, there is a massive hate train against the game. Its not just the bugs that people are complaining about. I figured this out when I got downvoted to hell on another article because I basically said "You guys fd up Beth,but learn from it and keep fighting."

They had to start somewhere. They should not have charged 60 dollars for it, but people would do well to remember that this is their first time delving into multiplayer, and its only 3 years after Fallout 4. Honestly, I like the game alot but even I said that this would be a disaster back when they announced it. "How the heck are they going to get this to work?" I thought.

Honestly, I just like Bethesda's games. Ever since I first discovered the Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind ( my first RPG), I have honestly always loved just exploring their worlds. Not apart of the hate mob so its clickbait. Some people like the game believe it or not. I can feel the downvotes coming but I like this game better than Horizon, Odyssey, BotW, Witcher 3, and RDR2. Is it more polished and visually impressive as those games? Not a chance, but still, I enjoy it more.
The only thing they took out were npcs. Not to say that you have to like the game, just making an observation.
The game is fun for certain people. I myself enjoy playing it, but it does have issues, mainly the extreme lack of polish; however, assuming the game functions exactly as it should, its not inherently bad as a game.
The game has content and experience s, just not what most people are looking for. Its partly Bethesda s fault for not knowing what their fans like about Fallout games, objectively speaking. I like 76 personally, but all Bethesda had to do is look at New Vegas. "Why are people praising this game so much? What does it do differently?" And that would have help them know before hand that most Fallout fans would hate Fallout 76.

9.5 may be a bit too high for the game, and is similar to all of the people giving the game 2/10 and 0/10. However, let the people who like the game like the game. If you want to criticize it, fine. But no the difference between criticism and crucifixion.

People are not used to them doing cash grab filler games, so many people are acting as if they waited 5 + years for a new game. Get used to it guys, as a company grows larger,some form of corruption is virtually unavoidable. Expect the same from CD Project Red when they grow large enough.
Hating the game is the current trend my friend. 7/10? Fair. 6/10 alright. 5/10 sure. But I stop taking these people seriously when they give the game 2/10 and even 0/10(Yes, I have seen it.) Yes, perhaps Bethesda made an error, but a large number of people are being viciously hateful instead of actually criticizing the game.
It is not objectively bad. Other broken games being released for $60 have gotten scores that accurately reflect it. The hate tsunami grew so powerful, that some people just go with flow, rather than state how they really feel.
