In Anthems case,we know EA goaded Bioware to do this. As to why Bethesda tried it, I'm not sure
Yes. Much of the criticism is warranted; however, gamers are rebelling against EA
While some of the criticism is warranted, the game being review bombed so mercilessly is an act of rebellion on gamers part.
Mr Marrir has a point. I have plenty of time, and I do not grow bored easily; however, I find myself only playing enough of a game to see what it's about. After I see the general idea, I usually move to another game unless it is a game that has truly captivated me( I.e. Skyrim, dragon age, etc)
It does have an excuse.... Money
Monetization is the cause. These games that end up being good a year later are literally just having the content cut out and sold as expansions. It is just like microtransactions, as they are merely finding insidious ways to charge consumers beyond the initial price point. As I highly doubt that what we are getting was 6 years of work. Red Dead 2 was what you get from 6-7 years of work.
Depends on how you define it. I dont see perfection as unreachable, its just not hard. Being perfect does not always translate to "impossible to make mistakes."
I still like there stuff, but they are suffering from the ole advancement syndrome. And EA. The games they use to make and the style they used to make them are not lucrative enough for EA unfortunately.
What matters most in an rpg is subjective. For me, its if I can make my own character and make them a badass.
As an organization grows, corruption tends to set in. Also it is a possibility that they are trying to rob people blind now in order to "save" them later. In other words, Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6 are likely highly ambitious and will therefore cost a bucketload of money to make. Because what they are doing is highway robbery, and this is coming from a Bethesda fan.
We should not underestimate the influence of a publisher. You can say what you want about the gameplay, but releasing a game such an unfinished state? Thats all publisher right there. Bethesda Softworks and Bethesda Game Studios weres growing larger and with growth on such a large scale, corruption will seep in.
Honestly, fans are silly if they expected another single player Fallout game from Bethesda only 3 years after Fallout 4.
This anthem of creation makes for good potential and alot of questions to be asked.
The game has plenty of content. However, content quantity matters not if one does not like the game. Might as well be zero content.
Awesome
How do you know its foundational? People who have been complaining about the engine have shown they have no idea what they are talking about. But, perhaps you are right. Perhaps it is foundational. Perhaps their games are just, I dont know, really hard to make by nature.
Criticism is what it deserves, not hate. There is a difference.
Its easy to assume we know, but we only have an outside perspective. These are things to consider, and people should think on them.
Ideally it should be functional, but what is really going on? Are all of these developers/publishers just greedy? Or is their something else?
Well, maybe they thought they could, just like some may say " I know I can beat this guy in Tekken" then you just get demolished by them. They tried, and they lost. It happens.
