One game to rule them all... and its even a multiplatform title - Destiny. That game will shift more PS4 consoles in the Fall and holiday months than all the other individual games during the same period.
Edit: Realistically speaking though, Sony is going to make sure that it's momentum continues through the Fall and Holiday season. Most of the multiplatform titles coming out will look better on PS4. A few of those (FarCry4, Destiny, GTAV, etc) will have better exclusive ...
The premise for the article is inaccurate. There is no data (sales or otherwise) to suggest that the graphical limitations (perceived or otherwise)of either console is killing them.
Infact the opposite is true. The improved graphical capabilities of next gen consoles, over and above their last gen counterparts has been one of the major driving factors in sales. Moreover, the trend of releasing remastered last gen games, with graphical overhauls is proof of this.
The problem is with parity. Developers holding back the PS4 version of games just so that the xboxone version doesn't look bad. I'm glad though that Sony has clued-up and are pressuring devs to make the PS4 counterparts or multiplatform games look and play to the higher standard and capabilities of the PS4.
Yup, got mine pre-ordered. I just don't know if I should platinum the PS3 version first, or if I should just Platinum the PS4 version.
I can't beleive EA took Visceral off the Dead Space franchise for this Hardline crap. I would rather Dead Space 4 than Hardline any day, all day.
Unfortunately, we brought this on ourselves. I too bought Premium for Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4. One of the reasons I will NOT be buying Hardline is becasue it will no doubt come with it's own 'Premium' DLC. I just hope nobody will be suckered into paying full price for an expansion pack (Hardline), and then paying a 'premium' subscription for DLC on that expansion pack. Effectively paying 100bucks for DLC!!!
^^^Exactly this!
Microsoft could have simply cut the price of the xboxonekinect console, to match the PS4 price point. But instead they cut loose the kinect. Which suggests to alot of people that the vision for it was a bit to high in the sky for reality.
I think the fact that the PS4 continues to outsell the xboxone in all regions, shows that people do care about BOTH performance and resolution, as well as FUN. And it seems that right now the xboxone is not capable to delivering the full package deal without gimping on either performance or resolution.
At least my water cooler LOOKS cooler :)
In terms of future proof, I have to agree that the Playstation4 comes across as the best future proof console right now. With Morpheus, PSTV and PSNow, not to mention the fact that with better overall specs, it will be capable of pushing farther for longer.
And it's that trade off that I don't understand. Why build a machine where you have to make a trade-off between between resolution and performance. Especially when you spend the whole of last gen touting how games look better on your platform?
With all the money Microsoft have, why didn't they just ship a box where you could have both, and don't have to make trade-offs between performance and resolution?
It reminded me of the film Three Kings. https://www.youtube.com/wat...
Firstly it was the single player campaign, and the fact that you could blow-up most of the buildings... in single player. Now the single player portions of the Battlefield games might as well be on-rail shooters for their complete lack of variety.
@HugoDrax
So ermm... why did you pre0order the White Destiny bundle for PS4 again???
You sound... confused 0.o
Have you seen Sony's response though

we can interprete "long term exclusive partnership" however we want, but it is confirmation of long term exclusives coming to the PS4.
It was the "only first of Xbox360..." marketing campaign of last gen that set this trend. Call of Duty became synonymous with the xbox brand. Xbox fans prided themselves on these types of practices, and as a result they have now become standard industry practice. Playstation just happened to get a really good exclusive deal this time round.
Dude, so many errors in your statements, I can't understand your angle.
Destiny might have the Halo dna, but no one who has played both can say "Destiny is an exact clone of the Halo formula..." Last time I checked, Halo was not an MMOFPS. And Destiny is so much more 'different' than Halo 1 and Halo 3.
All that you are proving is that you did not play the Alpha. No fault on your part, it was a limited and closed Alpha. What I will sugges...
Lets not forget who started the resolution wars last gen and why it was started in the first place. Now it has become the 'de facto' trend as a result.
Basically, it's too late now to start saying "teh graphix don't matter, it's about teh gamez..." That might be true in theory, but in practice the fact is as a gamer, regardless of your platform of choice, you want the games to run at their best AS WELL AS to look their best for the money you paid...
ermm.. well... that was quick!!!
We knew this already didn't we? This isn't new 'news' is it though? This is now standard practice in our video game industry, we just have to get used to it, or pay up for both (all?) consoles so that we are affected either way.
It's not sounding good at all for Crytek. What went wrong though? I don't understand how the company all of a sudden is struggling? Mismanagement, poor financial planning, unable to pay employees, falling out with Microsoft over Ryse sequel??? It's not sounding good at all. Man I don't know what to say?
Edit: I remember Free Radical, they were bought by Crytek if I remember correctly. Aww man I hope we can still get a Timesplitters game, but I'm not holdin...
