Oh there are bitter people around for whatever reason; defending video games as though they were family members and putting down video games as though they were despised enemies.
Honestly, I didn't have any issues during my play through beyond a couple funny glitches. Guess I got lucky.
The only thing I don't like about XCOM games is there is never any time to bask to the glory of the great team you trained up. If you take too much time progressing countries start quitting on you... I know this only adds to the difficulty but darn, can't we be vain for like one second, XCOM? My snipers want to gloat already.
Honestly I could never get into them either. It just feels like a difficult grind. I'm not totally adversed to highly challenging games but MH could never really capture me. I'd get b'slapped by something and there wasn't anything there to draw me back, as in a game like Dark Souls for example.
This is not too knock anyone who enjoys it because it's great if you do. The main goal of gaming is to find something you enjoy and then to have fun. :)

Very few tech gadgets have responded from slow starts due to price. Two prominent examples of rebounds are the PS3 and the 3DS. In both case they had to relent and slash the price, "take a hit", to win gamers over.
Because this company is so young and unknown. Because the tech is "new" and gamers can't truly understand what they're missing out on it all makes for a very bad launch by my forecast.
Ever since N64 they've defied the norm?... What? They DEFINED the norm back then. Heck they stuck with limited carts while Sony went against the norm and opted for CD media. This was why Square opted to move FF7 production to PS1 for example; that's probably the best 3rd party exclusive of all time. Nintendo dropped to second place that gen because they didn't change enough.

My guess is this blogger first played the game MANY years after release. When FFVII dropped it was heralded as a huge innovation, with a great story, amazing visuals, tight game play, an awesome battle system and lots of replay value.
My guess is the author wasn't even born when this game came out and so it's natural he would feel this way because he has no perspective of how things were a mere year before FFVII released.

I have a 970 and haven't had an issues maxing out anything as of yet...
Visual standpoint, I don't see much difference at all. No real shocker when we've all seen what the PS4 could handle flawlessly in a game like "The Order 1886".
Performance standpoint, clearly the PC wins if you have the right PC.
