As long as gamers are willing to buy hardware, which they clearly are, why move away from it? Gamers want hardware.
I've experienced cloud based gaming and while I have a good connection the tech isn't there yet. It needs to be flawless. It also need the infrastructure around the world to be up to par.
If next gen consoles move to the cloud then at that point I move to dedicated PC gaming...

I'm on 8.1. As you said, it's great so no rush. There's no really good reason until I buy a game that utilizes the new DX12.

I assure you there are just as many douchebags playing on consoles. Since last I checked PC gaming rigs aren't altering DNA... Yet.

You should want both to be successful so that there is competition for your dollars.
It sounds like they aren't considering the price. Oculus will be lucky to move many units at that price. Sure it will start off hot but after the early adopters are on board you will see a drop off that's significant.
I plan on being a last minute upgrader. I think I have until the end of June to upgrade for free if I'm not mistaken. I'd imagine this percentage will be up a lot higher by July.
