Hypothetically speaking, if Killer Instinct IS the best fighting game, how does an unreleased game affect it's standing right now?
Let's play with an example, here's a headline for you:
"Is Witcher 3 is the best Witcher game even though Witcher 4 will eventually be released?"

Shouldn't the ONLY reason be because there were games that were hypothetically better? Anything else should be eluded to while explaining which games deserve it more and why. Instead the blogger opts to pick out the things they don't like about the game... I don't like everything about FO4 but it's my game of the year because I played nothing I liked more than it. If I played something I liked more than it well then I'd need to qualify why.

The rewards of early access are you get the game right away and watch it grow and mature. You also save some money.
The risks involve the Dev essentially running away with your money.

Early access on PC anyway means you buy it now(typically at a much lower price than it will retail for) and you get the work in progress to play with. Once the game releases you get the full version at no additional cost.
With EA the gamers are actually doing the Dev a huge favour. Instead of paying people to test the game, they have fans paying THEM to test the game. Not only that but those gamers are infusing the company with capital they can use to make a better game or ...
