They sure are. Gaming Journalists killed the hype and sales of Doom by all doing "disappointing" Previews for it. The exact opposite can be said for Far Cry Primal Primal. That game was lauded in Previews and when the game came out the exact same culprits said meh when it came to the Review. What possibly changed from the first 3 or 4 hours of the game that they played to the finished version that warranted such a 180?
At least Sony released controllers for it right out the gate at launch.
Yeah, you brought up the wrong "next Minecraft" game at the wrong time. Funny how you conveniently left out the actual next Minecraft game that is currently just out now on PlayStation. And just like Until Dawn last year, it was never actually "hailed as the next best thing" but they both came out of nowhere with fairly great review scores.

It was actually the CG 2015 trailer that overhyped people beyond belief. They just wouldn't listen that it clearly was a CG trailer. Then the ingame was shown and it was "all about the gameplay" then, as long as the gameplay is fine the game will be great. Whoops, it failed there too with an unstable fps and only 900p resolution on Xbone too to boot.
But I'll say it again, its sitting on Metacritic with the EXACT same score as The Order 1886 yet it got off...

Remote Play is literally "Play Anywhere" more than the Xbox version any day lol. Cross Buy has also been a thing on PlayStation 5 years this February.

Not so much. Microsoft destroyed the early potential of PS3 in Japan back in 2006-2009 (with success too) by buying up major Japanese RPG games. Tales of Vesperia is a perfect example. It eventually came to PS3 and in Japan only too but was delayed because of this paid for time exclusiveness.
The outcome, it made no impact to the poor adoption rate of 360 in Japan either way but still did damage to PS3 which is all Microsoft wanted it to do. No publisher would be stupid enough now to...
A total sales number would be nice. PS4 is sitting at around 47 million units sold so far if we are to go by the 1.3 million average it sells every month since launch.

On one hand, Microsoft keeps releasing the same games in the fall of every year as their big hits which fans will defend with "there are new IPs on Xbox". And then when a new IP does actually come to Xbox, none of these fans will even buy it.
But low reviews is no excuse because Sunset Overdrive suffered in sales too but that was actually received well by critics.
Assassin's Creed Syndicate was under pressure to perform well after the disaster that was AC Unity. It failed. It failed so hard Ubisoft had to go back to the drawing board and are now building ANOTHER AC game engine from the ground up for this gen.
Watch Dogs 2? What the hell has that to do with anything? I won't ever bother with it like the first one, how is that for performing well?

I think a game like Flower still proves it more. Imagine trying to convert somebody to your argument while shooting plasmids and bullets in people's faces.
Kill Switch was the first game to use cover a main game mechanic to progress. Gears mainstreamed it and Uncharted perfected it.
Gears of War 4 is proof that it still isn't impressive in that series. The character literally goes into cover in 4 or 5 frames of stiff animation, when he peaks out with the gun its the exact same. It STILL looks like PS2 game in the animation dept.
Uncharted was WELL into development with a trailer of Drake in cover a lot during its first ing...
