If you look at the sales numbers comparing black ops to modern warfare 3. you will find that while moder warfare 3 sold more copies upon release it has been selling more slowly on a month to month basis than black ops did.
Which doesn't mean that the next game will end in failure, it just means that we've likely seen the high point for the cod series. Though we will find that out more accurately when the next cod game releases as we can compare one full year of sales...
I find many people that are really into cod or bf complain about other games not looking realistic enough. Usually their just stylized in some fashion, cell shaded, fantasy, sci fi based. Unless it's attempting 1 for 1 real world representation many of my friends say it's garbage. They don't even want to try the game just because of how it looks. When did how a game looks become soooooo much more important than game play that you won't even try it.
Hell I'd settle for a little more focus on ai now that we have the graphic thing pretty locked down.
I've been playing dead space with all the music turned off and it's incredibly suspenseful. The music seams to give away when something is about to happen. Without it it's a more edge of your seat kind of game. Even though it did have a good musical score.
Look at the moral censorship they enforce on the app store. Blocking or getting rid of apps they find offensive.
Who really wants that for games or gaming? They don't like blood, or swearing, or nudity, all of that goes against the mysterious apple commandments.
ram
I dislike that it's probably going to lack real time combat. They should have combat like demons and dark souls, Locks on to just one player, I think it would be manageable in an mmo setting.
This person's totally serious too.
Oh sure buddy origin is so much better than steam, and those two big games it has exclusive totally mean the downfall of steam. There's more than just those two service, and even though their semi irrelevant.
That sounds like a terrible game.
"What are you doing there?"
"I got shot so I have to watch this dude lay in the hospital on morphine for six months."
"Thats riveting. Does he go through withdrawls?"
What a world we live in. Lonely guys at home can finally create their perfect woman. Then run around and slaughter bandits with them.
His big thing is that betheseda games are buggy and it will kill this.
Sure yeah they're totally buggy, buuuut this games being made by a totally different team. I'm sure they use a few of the same resources, but they also have been working on this for years so far. I'm sure the people involved know they can't put out a buggy game.
And some stuff about there being too many studios making mmos and how everyone should leave it to world of warcr...
if it ends up being fun to play it'll do well. The impressions I've read are positive so far.
Unless the bork the gameplay I don't see how this can go wrong.
This was a great article. Well thought out and written. Basically says that their different with similarities and outlines what those are.
I would like to add, proper save game functionality.
Most games seem to make having multiple simultaneous game throughs a real hassle.
betheseda doesn't make very good stories by any mean.s Their not bioware, they make pretty places and put stuff in them. Fallout 3 had a pretty good beginning but after a while your just doing whatever for info.
There has to e something to keep the story present. Journey's only kind of open but the mountain is ever present. Majora's mask is a bit more linear than ocarina but is still fairly open. The moon hanging above you the whole time keeps you mindful of whats...
yeah but thats because desrets are boring, nobody wants to walk around empty sand. Most deserts aren't as full of stuff as the one in journey, and uc3 takes you to the cool spots. Ocarina of time was open world and it hod a pretty awesome story, same with majoras mask.
See the thing about it is you can't take a linear game example and say this wouldn't work in an open world setting. No it definitely wouldn't work, the story has been designed around being line...
Wupish wupish (whipping sound).
A little bit of backlash and they change their mind.
I do prefer the stance of not screwing people but it would be nice if we didn't have to go "hey wtf!?" for them to realise.
I don't think thats a factor. I've played open world games with great story, and linear games with great story. I've also played both with bad stories.
I good story is a good story.
I will grant that it is more difficult to make a compelling story in an open world setting but I see that as more of a limitation of technology than anything else.
The random encounter systems in skyrim, red dead redemption, and assassins creed all add...
is it just me or do those look like screen shots from silent hill? Very foggy, is the draw distance and fog that close in the pc version?
All those morons that keeps saying idevices are going to kill off handhelds and eventually all consoles. Ie the new ipad came out and many sites were comparing it's graphic powers to the home consoles and some going as far as saying that it was a sign of things to come for consoles.
