Pirates are still offering a service. Many pirated copies, for example, have their dependence on DRM removed. Meaning you can play without Uplay or Origin or Steam. That makes what they're offering immediately superior to the developer's version that requires you to jump through hoops to prove you didn't steal/pirate the copy you are playing so that you can play it.

If you think pirates don't offer a service and that not treating your consumers ...

Exactly. When will these companies learn that the only way to beat piracy is to offer a better service than the pirates do. Even Steam's Gabe said it himself.

The only season pass I got that I didn't feel screwed over by is the ME2 one. Every new copy came with a free code for the pass. Free content with a handful of DLCs that weren't free. It was a one-off moment where, instead of trying to shaft consumers and the used game market, EA actually provided something that benefited consumers and provided them a reason to buy new instead of used.

If they didn't do 1,000 anti-consumer things for every 1 pro-consumer instance,...

They take multiple forms. Some are simply pre-buying the DLC, these ones run the risk of being more expensive than the DLC total if the game or DLCs do too poorly and support is dropped.

There are others that merely offer a discount that causes the DLC+SP being cheaper than just getting all the DLC. Some of these also offer free DLCs as well.

As much as I dislike EA, they did one Season Pass that was actually great for the consumer and it was a one-off thing ...

If he plays the game and winds up feeling like it's only worth about $40, then he could feel shafted because the value it offers him is not equal to what he paid.

I'm glad they not only managed to do so, but did so with virtually no advertising beyond word of mouth. It would be interesting if each game was based on a different mythology. This one was based on Native American, another maybe Japanese, another could be Celtic and so on. Either way, I'm waiting to see what they've got up their sleeve next.

When it comes to backwards compatibility, if that's the thing that makes you want to buy one then you aren't a very smart consumer. You can keep your 360, after all. It's not like you HAVE to sell the thing for $25 at GameStop the moment you buy an XB1.

So far, it still looks like another WWE game I'll be passing on. Movements are still look very stiff, the moves look like they're done in slow motion and/or have no impact, and the gameplay looks like it's the same old severely outdated gameplay and animations.

Even a measly powerslam in the SmackDown! series, and even in the SvR series, looked like you were driving them into the floor. Now it just looks like "I'm going to gently pick you up, turn, and ge...

Part of the fun for me is to watch a Let's Play of it, then buy it if I like it. That's when I get my friends together and we play it together... and I get to laugh at them jumping lol.

Don't worry, it's Konami. I'm sure they'll give everyone the wonderful gift of it being in DLC. They're a gracious company and aren't full of greedy, out of touch morons at all.

Wasn't there an article a while back saying that Kojima intentionally plastered his name everywhere in this installment? Well... more than usual lol.

The thing is that the progression system is often rigged to make buying them more enticing. Which means your progress will be inherently slower than it would be if the game had no microtransactions. Take GTA5 for example. If you want to make 10 million, you have to play several days straight or you can spend $100 to get 8 million.

Meaning if you want to buy that one car, you have to grind for it and most people don't like grinding. Especially not in a game like GTA. To t...

For me, it also shows other developers and publishers how to actually make a game. Very few major bugs on release, active support, and the fact they managed to make this game with a team and budget that's are both a small fraction of what their competitors "need" to make a game that's even half Witcher 3's size and quality.

The only reason the game couldn't run at 60fps is because of the graphics, hardware limitations and all. My point is that most people would choose smoother, more responsive gameplay and solid stability and performance over simply having 1080p graphics.

It is quite possible that The Order could have done 60fps had they stuck to 720p. I will say that I don't mind 30fps, I don't get bothered when I see 30fps since it's still tolerable. It'll just be much bett...

@cd1
What games are you referring to? 60fps does make every game look better. Sure, sometimes the genre makes it so 30fps is fine. Platformers are one example. However, 60fps simply makes it look better and more responsive.

There are instances where the frame rate is directly tied to the gameplay when it shouldn't be. Arkham Knight plays at 30fps on all platforms, while Arkham City and Asylum played at 60fps. That difference is noticeable. Dragon Age: Inquisition ...

True. I may love my PS4, but I say there needs to be a greater focus on 60FPS and good performance over 1080p/900p. Hell, I'd be cool with staying at 720p if it meant good performance and consistent 60fps.

Hopefully the whole Assassin/Templar war is more than just a theme in this game. AC4 didn't feel like you were against Templars, Rogue didn't feel like you were against Assassins, and Unity so far (just started Sequence 7) doesn't feel like I'm facing Templars.

After AC3, it feels like I've pretty much just been dealing with filler episodes. Nothing of any real note goes on in AC4 or Rogue and I'm getting the same feeling from Unity as well. Sure, I&#...

They're dying and Sears is probably very close to just dropping all support of KMart. They won't last another 5 years is my guess.
