That may be true (that it's a money grab). But since I don't have a view into their studio, I can't agree with that out of hand.
It appears as though they've done work on it, work that moves beyond the PC version. Just a few examples: new character model, optimized TressFX, new particle effects. Are these worth $60? Not to me. But perhaps to others, especially to those who are big fans of the series or haven't bought it yet.
And if it...
They probably aren't marketing to those who bought it last gen. There's ~7-8 million next gen consoles out there. If even half of them have Tomb Raider, that's half that might buy it. And that doesn't include the new console purchasers or the big Japan release. They can probably expect several million next gen sales in a pretty reasonable time frame (~6 months), even at full price. Let's not forget that it sold 3 million at full price in less than a month. This is a popula...
I'd do a $10 upgrade in a heartbeat. But it's unlikely. When the game gets down to about $30, I'll pick it up despite having the PS3 version. I want the improved version and the additional comic content, and I won't lie - a part of me wants to show my support for the reboot and new angle. I'm not one to besmirch portrayals of women in video games (e.g. I have no problem with the Dead or Alive ladies, etc), but I really like the approach they took to the new Lara. It's ...
Agreed. Square has been suffering on the corporate side of things for years. I really hope this shift sticks and we see a smarter policy going forward.
This is going to be an incredible game. No doubt I'll pick this up when the price comes down.
And for those of you who are complaining about the price-tag - don't buy it straight away. When they realize no one is buying at $60, they'll drop the price sharpish. It's not uncommon nowadays for games to drop to $40 within a month either due to sales or lack of sales. Hell, the PS360 version of this and Bioshock Infinite dropped to $40 pretty quickly.
Is it just me, or is N4G increasingly filled with worthless articles of late? Is this just a slow month or something?
My wife and I bought a 360 for GoW. We will not be buying an X1 for exclusives. So there's some money the developers will lose if they go through with this.
I didn't "disagree" with you, because your statement is your opinion, but I do in fact disagree with you. For me, I'd rather than the fancy hair than the 60fps. I've been gaming for decades - I can deal with 30fps. But fancy hair is new and innovative, and increases the immersion for me as I play the game.
Ding ding ding!
For the record, the two judges who voted against net neutrality were appointed by Clinton, while the third judge, who wavered, was appointed by Reagan. All three were confirmed multiple times by bipartisan Senates.
I didn't realize that weather counts as levolution. In that case, we could get a sweet sandstorm on Silk Road.
There's literally nothing in 3 of the 4 maps that could levolve... The only thing that comes to mind is the comms dome in Altai.
Yeah, I'm not seeing it. I mean, really, the only innovation here is a new OS and a new controller. Otherwise, it's just a name-brand of gaming PCs.
As to the OS, it's a great idea, but being linux-based it's got a backwards compatibility problem. Going forward, everything depends on the developers having incentive to put in the time and money to make their games linux compatible. Arguably, that incentive isn't there.
As to the controller,...
No, I'm pretty sure the most vocal people in this thread are neither myopic nor pathetic.
Rather, the most vocal people are more than likely of the following sort:
1. People who are tired of the social discourse on sex, sexuality, and sexual ethics being dominated by loud and aggressive women who mix truth and power, morality and whim. Women who consistently change the positive message of their "feminism" to suit the historical and dialectical ...
Well said by both of you. This has nothing to do with "equality." It's simply a case of "I want to play with your ball, and I want you to want to play with me, my way."
Bubbles for wisdom.
You get it. Bubbles for you.
Because female beauty is clearly
(a) something to be hidden, rather than revealed and celebrated,
(b) sexist,
(c) immature.
Oh, that's right. I still have to complete this game. *Sigh*
My wife and I played that series together, and she BAWLED when that scene occurred. I mean genuine sobs. She's such an empathetic person :)
