I know Nintendo needs 3rd party support, but they're honestly better off without EA support. No excuses for the other 3rd parties though.
Monster Hunter 4, Monolith's and Treasure's 3DS games (to name a few others).
Hopefully a localization of Bravely Default will be announced.
I would say so. They are the only ones who still make accessible and arcade-y games, even if they happen to have a shiny new coat of paint each generation.
Gamers nowadays only want story, realism and multiplayer. I blame them for the reason why a perfect arcade-y, unrealistic franchise like SSX was completely raped of its charm.
Perv games have huge selling power in Japan. I don't think it was a big reason for the sales spike though. The Vita should have no problem selling 30-40K on a weekly basis now.
LOL @ the gif used with the article
How is a game like Luigi's Mansion 2 "stale" when it is only the second game in the series?
I agree that the Mario universe has become oversaturated though.
Day 1 and soon as the release date is finalized.
LOL are you really trying to throw dirt on DS sales when it's already the best selling piece of gaming hardware ever released?
Dat fanboy logic.
So the 3DS doesn't have good games?
At least you admit to being a Vita/Sony fanboy. Doesn't make the implication any less stupid though.
3DS staggering a bit in the states. Wonder how much the month of March will affect sales as big titles such as Castlevania, Luigi's Mansion, and Monster Hunter Ultimate will all be releasing in that timeframe.
LOL I don't care who wins because I'm not a fanboy. Just show me the games and I'll gladly spend my money.
Apparently all of those games are stale and boring.
I can't say for certain if Sony will remain in the handheld business, but by the looks of it Nintendo isn't going anywhere anytime soon. They'd drop out of making consoles before they ever dropped out of making handhelds.
Not a very in-depth article, but I agree with its overall premise. Smartphones an tablets have definitely eaten away at the consumer base for dedicated handhelds, but in the long run those two devices are targeting the general consumer, whereas the handheld is targeting a specific type of consumer. This means that there can and will be overlap (i.e someone who buys a smartphone will also see the need in purchasing a handheld). The two are compliments, really, rather than competitors, thoug...
Figures, make a comment that paints Nintendo even slightly positively and here come the disagrees.
IMO it's been desirable for over a year now. Its much more appropriately priced and it has a great selection of games to choose from, with great titles coming in the future as well. If there were any year to finally take the plunge for the 3DS, 2013 is that year.
edit: Also, if the author of that article didn't see the value in picking up great titles like Revelations, Dream Drop Distance, and Nano Assault, well, that's her own damn fault - not Nintendo's.
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate doesn't exist anymore?
Intelligent Systems is chop liver now??? They just released arguably the best Fire Emblem in the franchise, created and developed the awesome Advance Wars series, and have made good-great games on all of Nintendo's handhelds.
Psychic already fulfills the role of the Light type and Sound doesn't make any damn sense since all Pokemon make sounds. Whoever even came up with these types as possible additions to the series obviously didn't think it through.
It's been like a month since FE release. If you noticed 3DS sales have been declining ever since then, even in Japan and EU.
