Yeah, that's the silver lining, but you honestly cannot sit here and believe that Nintendo wouldn't want it to be the other way around.
At this point in their life cycles, the DS and Wii should be the supplemental income producer, and not the Wii U.
To be outsold by both the DS and Wii.....jesus the Wii U is really in a bad spot.
Thankfully, Nintendo has since stopped listening to "fans" like jimbowahey or else they would have been dead years ago.
X and Bayonetta 2 you have a point. 3DS owners won't be missing out on much in terms of Mario Kart and SSB though, even if the 3DS versions may be "inferior" games (which isn't a foregone conclusion since MKDS mopped the floor with MKWii).
Also, Monolith is working on a 3DS title, so while 3DS owners may not get X, they may get some other quality title.
There is no identity crisis. Games will come to the Wii U, but development takes time. The common misconception is that Nintendo is just cranking these games out with a press of a button, when in reality these projects were more than likely green-lit years ago.
Additionally (and this is something people need to realize), Nintendo's home consoles are no longer their flagship hardware, and haven't been since the GBA. Nintendo's shaky console performance with both...
Why not put more focus on the sector that has essentially carried the company since the original Gameboy days?
32GB SD card?
The price cut was only a partial catalyst. Without SM3DLand and MK7 releasing around the same time that the price cut occurred 3DS sales would have eventually tapered back off into mediocrity.
Day 1
I think there was a Final Fantasy released in that time period as well. The PSP certainly aged well despite its rather bleak start.
I'm the exact opposite: with each passing generation, I continue to realize how incredibly generic and weak most of the Gen1 pokes are.
Because fanboys want all games to only be on their platform of choice.
You seem to be under the impression that the 3DS doesn't have any compelling games on the platform besides Mario.
I agree with this. I will add though, that if Nintendo had waited a year to finalize the 3DS hardware, we would have definitely gotten a handheld that is at the very least more capable than the current 3DS (the current models are based on 2010 smartphone/tablet technology, and mobile tech considerably spiked in performance in 2011).
IMO I think they rushed out the 3DS because they needed something to stimulate more positive income since both the DS and Wii were basically d...
The 3DS is already "making" noise, so it doesn't exactly need either of those games (in fact, I'm pretty shocked that the new generation of Pokemon is releasing this early).
I'm not trying to **** on the PS4 or 720 either; I think they will both have good holiday seasons should they release around September/October. I just think that, given how well Pokemon sells in general, and the fact that these new games will be 3D and released simultaneously in all...
You think a brand new console will seriously outsell the 3DS in the same time frame that Pokemon releases? And the 1st 3D Pokemon game at that?
3DS might break records this holiday season. I don't see either the PS4 or 720 topping it.
LOL Nintendo couldn't care less about the opinions of people like you who have never owned and never will own their products.
That said, I do wish in the future that they don't gimp their consoles in terms of specs. The WiiU for instance, was purportedly more powerful in the original devkits before Nintendo decided to weaken it.
3DS no games? LOL that was true............like 2 years ago.
Way to show your fanboy colors though.
It's way too early to call it a failure. It is, however, having a very terrible 4 months commercially, and it certainly doesn't help that Nintendo has failed to market the WiiU properly.
^^^Bringing up the PS3's launch, which was universally considered a failure, isn't really helping your argument (in fact it undermines it).
