Honestly, the whole concept depends on how much you expect from it. Look at it like this. Every game starts at the same base point and as people continue to talk about and praise it, expectations get a little higher. I think Mario is a fantastic game, but I could easily see someone going it's good, but not 12th, with the next point up being fifth, best game of all time on Metacritic good.

Nintendo has already placed stricter requirements on getting game reviews following the 3DS game getting ripped. Also, your point is fundamentally flawed.
"Losing Nintendo as one of your client would be devastating for that gaming site / content creator person. "
Nintendo has many great games, but their sales aren't the best. I don't think anyone could say missing out on Wii U reviews would be devastati...
Honestly, there is no "fair" way to do this.
If it is based off the fastest within a period of time, it will punish anyone who walks away or can't devote time. It will also give newer players an edge, since other people will write guides, post tips/tricks and you can totally plan ahead of time to be the fastest if that is your end goal.
Also, being the fastest doesn't automatically mean skill either. All it takes is getting lucky or un...
I think it's important to talk about the issues with this article. The person brings up a double standard, which is fine, but it also assumes fault. Truth be told, trying to find this issue is hard. For instance, the only posts I can find on Reddit are located in Kotaku In Action, with very few articles and even YouTube content covering it. This is important, since it strongly suggests two things. One, there aren't many people who care about Chris Grant and two, it seemingly doesn'...
"Considering how little content i used to get for more money, i'd say in many cases expectations are just too high. "
Yeah, but standards change and so do other considerations. It's impossible to deny it costs less to produce something like a disc as opposed to a cartridge.
"But a lot of the complaining i see is from people with no sense of historic context and dont realize how good they have it now"
Ignorin...
"Nintendo's issues are always ignored while any other publisher is punished "
Whoa now, let's call a spade a spade here. I won't deny Nintendo sometimes gets a pass, but it isn't like it's unique to Nintendo. In fact, I can prove that by looking at your first example.
" did breathe of the wild not have technical issues? so why did it get a 10/10 when other games get a lower score for having technical issues."
It really didn't. We had things like Ninja Gaiden 1/2 and a few others, the main difference is that Demon's Souls became popular. I think the best example of this is between Demon's Souls and Spelunker HD. These games released within a month of each other, feature esoteric mechanics, crushing mechanics and other unforgiving elements.
Demon's Souls has a Metacritic average 89 percent with pull quotes like "Demon's Souls may make you throw controllers...
Or... just don't tell people how to play.
One of the issues I have with posts like yours or this is that they tell people how they're suppose to enjoy the game. Regardless of how much content or reason for it, I'm going to rush through the story, because the story isn't what I fine enjoyable in Destiny. It's the raids, strikes and good times with friends and random people that makes Destiny stand out/be fun.
By slowing down, it takes...
I get that sites are looking for easy articles and things to get views, but this stuff has been beat to death and doesn't even need an opinion. For consoles it's Sony for the exclusive content and overall it's PC because it runs better. There really isn't more to it.
True, but I'd argue being the first choice for handheld gamers is a statement of popularity, not quality, thus popularity matters, though even then it's debatable.
There is no denying the Vita has good games, but it isn't like the 3DS outsold it without popular titles. I mean, out of the two of them I personally prefer the Vita, though it's a hard sell that all those classic games (LoZ: OoT, Majora's Mask, Earthbound, etc), strong third parties (Monster ...
I'd agree if this wasn't expected of Destiny. Regardless of whether you like or dislike the choice, Bungie has always put the end game out fairly early. I believe every raid has released within a week of release, with some of them being out sooner. Despite that, hitting the max in that time has never been an "easy" feat.
I would believe I put 100+ hours into Destiny's first week to be raid ready and I was barely 27 due to bad luck/terrible RNG. If you ...
Honestly, it depends on what you want to do. The literal end game has always been trials/raids, with the other stuff being additional tasks to fill the void. These range from maxing grimoire, getting every emblem/shader/ship/exotic or countless other things. But, if I had to say one thing over another, beating the hardest challenge has always been the point of end game.
@ Rangerman1208
It is, but I also indicated that immediately after calling it bland. Also, the interactions are important, but they can only take the game so far before you're basically saying "having X act like themselves makes every game better." Sure, it helps, but after a certain point it is on you to do more than the standard ancient evil is about to get free, so we need an item to seal them, though along the way you find out the evil is basically misunde...
Nope.
By design, I don't think any Dynasty Warrior game deserves a perfect score, as they're too shallow. Sure, it can be fun running around and killing 1000+ enemies mindlessly, but if you took away the objectives, you could literally beat most of these games by randomly moving and pushing attack, including this one.
Furthermore, this one has an especially bland story, since it deals with the crossover aspect. I mean, the story is so flawed it ...
Well, you kind of can. By pushing a direction on the d-pad you can fight with both characters and you'll swap to the character you've selected for a period of time. Not the best, but better than nothing.
At most three. I think a lot of us know they're getting Cuphead and want to play it.
"Why not maximize your profits? "
Because it cost money to port it to Xbox. Even if it would've helped, they ran the numbers and decided it would fare better on PlayStation, as they could only afford one port.
What exactly are they missing out? I tried some VR games and they were basically games I could currently play set in a lower resolution world with the ability to look around the room and see more. I certainly see the novelty to it, but it's hard to justify the cost when it does so little.
It's sad. At first I really liked Fortnite and wanted it to succeed, but once I got to the problematic parts, saw how bad the community is getting and poor communication from the developers, I'm starting to lose faith.
Like I'm happy they don't want to release a buggy patch, but revealing this just hours before it was expected to release is a bit late, especially since they made a big deal about the patch notes coming soon.

See, you missed my point entirely. I'm literally saying it's fantastic, but based off how hyped up it is from your perspective, I could see it being overrated.
For instance, if I said it was tied for the sixth best game of all time on Metacritic, would you agree it's that good? Would it raise your expectations? Isn't that a lot higher than people saying it's a good game?
